does anyone else have there shins killl after skiing. i know it can be from casing or having your boots to tight but i usually avoid both of those and my shins still hurt like fuck. its rediculous now because everytime i go to learn something new and i fall or something it feels like my shins are about to burn away or blow up. any recommendations to fix this. i have tried ice but it hasnt been to succesfull
I get that once in a while. And i'll take a break from hitting the huge jumps because the hard landings will just keep fucking you up. Or just throw some extra foam in the front of your boot, it helps.
It is from landing backseat and it is the muscle tearing away from the shin bone. you can search for "shin bang" in this forum and there will be a lot of advice. Buttering also makes it worse.
My shin bang is the worst it has ever been and i think i have done some significant damage to my legs. I landed backseat last weekend and it hurt so badly that i still cannot walk. It feels like i broke a bone in my lower leg. Has anyone ever had to have surgery to re-attach the muscle to your bone?
you may have broken a bone. most likely your fibula. i landed back seat in december and broke my fib. i thought i just had a muscle tear until i finally got xrays. hope you get better
i had it bad, just try not to land backseat and ride your boots super loose. You should also go to a hardware store and get foam padding that is sticky on on end and put that stuff on the outside of the toungue of your boot
my frien bought sponge too wash cars the big one he split the in hafl verticaly and put them into is boot were is shins are and he says its good or someone already told me to use saranwrap lol
hahaha it's not from doing your boots too tight. It's a lot more from doing up your boots too loose. Backseat landings are the main cause. It stretches the muslces on your shins and even can pull them right off the bone in spots. Doing up your boots tight helps a lot with it. I can't give a technical reason why I just know it does.
if you don't keep forward pressure in your boots while just skiing, not only landing backseat, you'll get shin bang.
if you get little plastic baggies (not zip lock ones) and fold the bag in half and put silicon spray between the two sides and then put it between your shin and your boot towards the top, it helps. weird, i know.
take out your old straps, and you'll notice there's a hole where they were screwed into the boot. so line up the booster straps the way you want them where the old straps were and mark where the screw goes. then you need to punch a hole in the strap using a knife or a soldering iron like i did. put it back on the boot and screw it on.
