So you see people gathering in a particular spot to hit a jump. Do you join the gathering and wait your turn or just blow past and cut off whoever's been waiting. Never used to be a problem, but seems like more and more people are just blowing past. Kinda lame IMO.
You're supposed to wait, but a lot of the time the people standing at the top of the in-run aren't planning on ever hitting the jump (we call these people "candy asses"). So if somebody blows by they're not completely at fault, but they're still a dick for not stopping and asking.
i always try to wait, but i used to be so light that sometimes i couldnt help it, so i had to start farther up and no one saw me. since then ive began eating and learned how to skate.
Yeah - line-up-to-watch thing is lame, but I think that if someone is sizing up the jump for the first time and trying to decide whether or not they'll hit the jump it's okay. However - if someone knows in advance that they have no intention of hitting the jump they should just hang way, way to the side of the line-up and watch. I've actually seen quite a few people do this, and it'd be cool if this became standard practice but I doubt it will happen when so many people don't even respect obvious line-ups.
well if u are doing like a line and they r like half way down the hill waiting to do one feature then i would say just keep going don't ruin your own run.
yeah i hate these "candy asses" you speak of. there are a lot of them where i ski and i pisses me off. i had a candy ass boarder make me check my speed and it cost me my landing on a 5 (fucking dick head) after that i had to get out of the park cuz all of the watchers were getting really bad.
whenever i roll up to a bunch of people waiting, i just call drop as soon as possible. if you're gonna go for it then hit that shit man, otherwise get outa the way
I go in wait with the group, let like 2 people go then call a drop, but if no one goes for like longer than 30 seconds than i just go. By the middle of the day you usually get to know the "candyasses" and the people who are cool so you can figure it out easier.
i snaked about 30 people today at the pipe, and 2 of them looked like they were dropping in, ya snaked um bombing into the pipe, ha felt like a bitch but the pipe was empty and i knew they would take forever
Crows are no good. I always try to be polite. The only time I have ever blown by people is if we are filming doing a follow cam, in which case I usually yell to them before I get there so they know whats going on
our park is small enough that you have to keep going and hold your speed to make the landing on the last jump, so it's never really a problem. the only place there's a line is at the top, and usually it's pretty organized.
I wait at the top untill there is an opening then I look around and say ok im going if no one goes I go. There are alot of people expecially on weekends that dont like people to see them go off. I dont blame them I remember when I was first starting up and I didnt want people to see me eat shit.
If you actually have plans on hitting the feature just hop in the group, wait for a couple people to hit, and then eventually call it...if no one goes just check if it's cool to drop....just flow it.
1/2 of china comes over on a plane and gets on a bus come to my hill and rents skis and just cuts in all the jump lines and then stands in the landings..... i always always call when im droping and my friends kill me for it and i also say droping next if theres people alover the place
Yeah - the stop, see who's actually hitting and go thing is fine. The I'll just cruise around the line-up and cut people off on the inrun maneuver is bad form.
well for one jump at our resort, that only a couple of people can hit. you have to start at the top of the hill, and bomb it all the way to the bottom. so alot of the times i am yelling dropping and heads up all the way down the hill to make sure i dont get cut off. because i have to go right through that same linup.
I hate it when kids just blow by. Last time it happened I called my drop, ghetto boarder flys past me and hits the hip I was waiting to hit, so I took off after him cause I was so pissed ready for a fight, he sees me and cuts the lift line, jumps on a chair and starts talkin trash from the lift. He was a real gangsta....once he was 20FT above me.
Just call your drop-in at any convienient time unless some kid wants to get going. Most kids just wait there at the lines in my resort to look cool, then not do it. But yea, just call it and watch for dicks.
depends how badly i want to hit the jump. if i'm doing something that scares the bejesus out of me (which isn't that often, fuck i suck), then i wait. but that's mostly the estrogen, i reckon. if i'm really stoked to do something and having a rad day, then i usually snake the group and call my drop in
it kind of depends on the day for me. If it's really crowded, i'll usually stop, but if it's not that bad, and the park is full of those "candy ass's" then I usually just blow right by people. I mean, i wouldn't cut off someone who has already dropped, but if everyone is just looking...time to go.
I saw a kid fly off the lift like he was a bad ass ski right threw a group of people who were yelling at him hit the jump threw a nice 180 right into the kid who just crashed off the jump. Both kids were fine but it was a nasty crash. Guess you should check before you go off.
today i must have yelled at like 4 kids not directly but indirectly and it worked. i hate it when kids just cut through and go. me and my friends always call dropping
If they are a bunch of gapers sitting in the landings of the previous hit, we (me and my friends) usually snake right through just because it's lame. And we add in an obligatory snow shot to them, or a pole tap.
If there are people legitimately dropping though, we wait until it's good to go.
