i think the two have gained a bit more respect for each other - but definitely boarders are giving more respect to skiers

Six or seven years ago, it seemed like skiers and snowboarders really hated each other. I was too young to really care a lot, but i didn't like the fact that snowboarders could look cool in the air and skiers couldn't. Then Johnny Mosley showed up. haha

and my brother doesnt follow pro snowboarding, he likes skiing better and has a lot of respect for skiers, he just doesnt know a lot about it which can get pretty anoying at times, hes a snowboarder

there are still a bunch of snowboarders that hate skiers. the other night there was a rail jam and my friend was throwing down harder then any body else and didnt win any prizes. and since i was hurt and could ski in it i asked them why he didnt win anything and they said it was because he is a skier and to get a ski shop to sponser the event

aside from like 2 our school is full of boarders who will do nothing but say how gay skiing is no matter what we throw even if they do a shitty 180 3 feet off the ground and we do a 15 foot high 5 mute they always say how gay it is and how boarders are better... gets so annyoing

yea cuz skiers are now owning the mountains bascailly and boarders realize its not all about them anymore. Plus maybe they just realize how its seriously not a big deal and the 'rivalry' is so played out.

ive noticed this too, and im a snowboarder
i dont get it, i assume its because most kids who ski, skiied long before they started hitting park whereas most snowboarders just picked it up because they saw it on espn.
but then i watch ski videos and skiers go bigger in halfpipe, can drop muuuch bigger cliffs, and can hit bigger gap jumps because they can get more speed.
either way i give the same respect to a snowboarder or a skiier who throws down, who the hell cares which one you choose as long as you dont skiblade

skiers around my area has always had respect from snowboards and skiers has always respected snowboards. the whole thing of hating is just something a stupid bored 15 year old pc nerd with internet found up in some forums

its nice to have someone tell you what you just did was sick whether its a skier/snowboarder, everyone knows when someone does something good, and everyone likes to hear when what they did was appreciated, and that kind of attitude will transcend and will only make the whole experience a more positive one.

Well I don't know about you guys but we where at a mountain with a really fun/tall step down and my friend strait aired it for a test hit and after he landed a kid on a board on the chairlift yells out, "Hey you skier! You've got my respect!" Needless to say our lives where complete after that.

they are starting to realize that we are throwing down in the park just as they are...like today...i was in a comp(slopestyle) that was boarders and skiers and the skiers fucking OWNED the boarders...like even the announcer was saying that teh skiers were killing it way better than betters...

I agree with most of what's been said. Even in the last 2 years, i've noticed that i dont get as many strange looks when I come into the park. This could be due to the newfound respect thing, or the fact that I dont look like a total fucking tool anymore...
but, i have to disagree that in general skiers throw down harder than boarders. Atleast in my experience (mainly Killington and Wachusett mountains..) i see a lot more strait airs from skiers, and a lot more tech rail stuff from boarders.
