doctors are not overpaid andy

'The average doctor is generally overpaid. An astronauts salary is around 40,000 - 70,000 USD. That's like a quarter of a doctors STARTING salary.'

Hey...both my parents are doctors and are not 'overpaid.' they do soooo much trauma work and never get paid for it. plus they had to go to school for 8 years, then enter residency for another 2...so they've put in the time. Do you have any idea how much malpractice insurance is?? After all the costs they dont take home all the much for what they have to do...

Yes i agree doctors are definateley NOT overpaid. They work their ass off to get into med school, work their ass off to pass med school and then spend the rest of their working life working their ass off to save/cure people.

Lets say if those astronauts fell 100000ft, got smashed up and burnt but were barely alive. Who is the first person they would see to save their life?? Thats right a doctor/surgeon. now whos the hero - the guy that makes velcro or the guy that saves the life of the guy that velcro

Doctors work their asses off to make sure people stay healthy. Being a doctor means a min. of approx. 10 years of school, and dealing with death, disease, and gruesome injuries. Anyone who thinks doctors get payed too much is on crack. I'd like to see them deal with 1/4 of the shit doctors deal with on a daily basis.

You could have countered this in the thread you dumbshit. I didn't mean overpayed in general, I mean overpayed in comparison to the astronauts... An astronaut gets around the amount of schooling/training a doctor does, does something thats JUST as specialized as a doctor, yet gets payed a lot less... You are an idiot.

so you're saying that astronauts are underpaid in comparison to doctors. Well there is a good reason for that - the job of a doctor/surgeon is fair more important than making velcro and counting down from 10. Besides 40-70 000$US (as you said andy) a year is actually pretty dam good

you are either the most ignorant person I know, or you are stupid as hell... 40,000 to 70,000 is not good money for someone that's risking their lives to do work that noone else on earth can do. And they do a LOT more than 'make velcro and count down from ten' You sir, are a fucking moron.

Yeah I'm with Andy on this one. Astronaughts should get paid more but then again, I guess it's a lifestyle as well as a job. Fighter pilots should probably get paid more.

And our best surgeons over here don't get anything more than about US$60,000, general practitioners here would never get more than $US50,000

Wow... really? That's very strange... My uncle is an athletic TRAINER for the Carolina Hurricanes NHL team, and he gets probably 90,000+ a year.

ya but astronauts also get to experience going into space. Any other human being has to pay millions of dollers to go up. They do deserve more money, but i doubt that many astronauts are going to complain about their job.

They don't go up there for a vacation. They are up there, and the whole time they are running experiments, fixing things, excersizing so they don't lose bone or muscle mass... etc... Its not like its a big space Disneyland they are going to.
