While thumbing through the Scott catalogue intstead of waxing skis at work, I noticed scott was making skis next year. After a web search I found out that they had been making skis for a few years, they just weren't available in the states. My curiosity went wild when I saw the capped/ sidewall combinitation construction, and a 16.5 meter turning radius on a 178cm twin tip. I called Scott up and found out I could proform a set of the P3's. I bought them immediatley, which was a strong impulse to throw away some of my hard earned dollars.
When they arrived in the mail I was eccstatic. The construction looked rock solid. The sandwich sidewall construction looked burly, and real sidewalls hold an edge so much better. The capped part also means druability. The cap came all the way down around the tips, which is similar to snowboard construction, and I'm a big fan. The base absorbed wax well, and was finished really well. I also salpped some fischer fx-17 bindings on just for style. So out of hte box, the P3 was solid, but how did it ski?
So I left work an hour early to hit up the hill. It was icy, and not really a good day to be skiing, but I was primed because I had some new skis. The first run blew my mind. These skis rip! They felt like having a set of carving skis under me, super staple, lightning fast, and they held an edge through everything. I haven't been on a carving ski in 2 years, and I forgot how much fun it was just to turn on groomers at mach 1. I actually spent an hour just skiing, and ripping through our icy bowl, just loving how the ski handles, but oh yeah, these are a park ski, so yeah, about the park...
The skis are stiff, and after skiing t-halls all winter I was a little hesitant about the skis, because they were a lot stiffer. The wider dimensions (118-82-108) was welcome, because I really like stability. My first jump was a little shady, and I landed a lil back seat. The stiffess was a blessing because the skis held on, and I didn't wash out like I would have on my t-halls. After a few more runs throught the parkI realized that these skis are the shit. They spin fine, have a pretty low swing weight, and pop something rediculous. They are also super stable, and since they carve so well, it's easy to slalom through 6 year olds clogging runins to jumps with out losing speed.
The flex is also amazing, I really enjoy extended manuals, and the fact that the skis are still stiff enough to carve on ice.
It's been a few days, and the ski just gets me more and more excited. It might just be the perfect all around twin. I've even ridden the beloved public enemy, and I can't say that I like them nearly as much. My public enemeys, are now back seat to the P3. Let me know if you have any questions about this ski, because it rips.
