so...my mum is in the medical research biz and i was sitting in her lab waiting for her to finish up some experiment and i was playing w. some liquid nitrogen (yeah im easily amused) and i dripped a pretty good amount on my index finger...and suprise suprise it started to buuuuurn like no other.and yeah..so now the skin on my index finger knuckle is like blackish, i think its like blood underneath but im not sure...should i poke it or something?
That's not blood, that comes with a burn. Since liquid nitrogen is cold you have sever frostbite, the black is dead skin. Why would you play with liquid nitrogen with bare hands? But it is fun to play with, I admit that.
AHHHHHHHHH. soo nasty. ok so i poked it lightly w. a pin just to see what would happen and it spurted blood, now the skins a little darker than usual where the burn is, i learned my lesson next time ill wait outside the lab...
my buddy dropped liquid nitrogen on the tip of his thumb... gone now... went all black, then one day he woke up and it was gone. and it is frostbite... or i believe they call it cryogenic burning. liquid nitrogen is usually about -200 celcius, hopefully the drop was small enough that it didnt cause any deep tissue damage because then your whole finger would die.
really depends on how much you have of each! if you hade like a dogs shit sized amount of lava, and an unlimited amount of nitrogen, i bet you could make a warm rock.
