With the news that LibTec are making skis for next season do you think we'll see more board compaines jumping on? When snowboarding exploded many of the ski companies started making boards such as Salomon and Rossi etc. Fair enough none of the "core" companies have done but they werent around then. Now skiing is getting so much more hype will some the bigger boardrider compaies do the same such as Burton? I'm not sure, it'll be pretty hypocritical but hopefully good in terms of bringing the sports together.
i like them...i wonder how they ride due to the magnetraction sides....probably pretty good for the east coast..because ive ridden the board with magnetraction and its nice
i think its good if snowboard co.s start making skis, cause they will either suck and no one will buy them, or they will be better than the current stuff and force every orther company to make better products
do you know anything behind libtechs product?? there actually a very innovative company in snowboarding and now entering the ski market, the created something no one else had thought of, instead of having 2 points of edge contact you will actually have 4 or 5 because of there mag-ne traction, i've never been privelaged to ski them, but i will say that there snowboards from what i heard ride very very well in the park and on icy crappy conditions
ur an idot thast not the idea at all, its so snowboarders can skin up a mountain and then ride down, unless u like rideing 145 cm skis with no inside edges
you're right but if everyone starts buying the snowboards companies skis than it may get to the point where some of the skiing companies may go out of business, but hey who knows snowboarders may switch to skiing!!!!
^ why they make sick shit, and the more promoting/advertising our sports gets the better. Burton has done alot for snowboarding(understatement) so why not let them give freeskiing a little fire under foot?
I would have to say that Prior Snowboards was the first pure core snowboard company to produce skis. Chris Prior wanted to try skiing, so instead of buying a pair of skis, he just modified his tooling to be able to make a ski.
I know Chris and Dean and had the opportunity very early on to test these prototypes and they were a phenomenal ski out of the gate. The response he had was so great that he decided to make a production run.
I can say this, his initial prototypes were of far better quality and finish than Armada skis in retail stores at the same time. Many snowboard companies are small, handbuild their product and do everything under one roof. What this allows is quality assurance THROUGHOUT the manufacturing process.
This is a good thing, and is why you will see that their initial forays into the ski market will be equipment that is exceptionally well put together with alot of innovative R&D inside.
Why not? All the best equipment is made by Burton, if they made a new ski division like that did with RED, Anon, Gravis, etc, I think it would only benefit skiing.
i dont understand that at all since forum is a. owned by burton, b. makes the worst crap on the planet, c. is all about being "hip and cool" rather than having solid product, and d. doesnt warrantee shit
i had 1 forum board and 2 jeenyus boards which are exactly the same as forums, as well as 2 friends who had forum boards
theyre now all unrideable because theyre all broken
im actually pretty pumped about this. i think that people need to stop seeing it as 2 different sports, and just look at it as a modification of the same sport
yea i dont want anymore board companies making skis...or vice-versa... people should stick to their own shit...i wouldnt buy a pair of burton skis if they made any...even if they were good and cheap
how can libtech be "pretty core when it
1. is a snowboard company who advertises skis as "narrow ass snowboards"
2. has only been making skis for one year
