Short skis

When I was in the mountains on the weekend I notice that many ppl were skiing on short skis and there fairly tall. Like I saw a guy with 160's and his heights around 5'11. Is it better to ski on shorter skis or is that just the thing to do?

Lots of 'newschool' skiers ski on sticks too big for them because it 'looks cooler.'

my dads 6 feet and like 185 and he skis 164's i guess its the thing now alot of ppl have smaller skis i tride trading in my dads old pair of skis and they said no there ot long no one will take them

I love skiing on my 169 1080s.....and i am 6'1......but i like my AR5 176 for style......faster.....and makes spins nicer.

yeah short skis are kind of lame, i like big ones. it's just cooler looking, and also it just feels good.

There is this one kid at my mountain, and he is about 6 foot and he rides on k2 juvys.

Its easier to ski and spin on short skis, but everything looks better on longer skis.
Long skis also make landings a little easier, and anything switch is easier on longer skis. You can also get more speed for bigger jumps.
If you look at most pros, they use longer skis, around 175-185.
