does rollerblading help you with skiing like in off season or whenever cuz it seems like it would and where can i find some good ones for a cheap price?? any suggestions or nething
blading definately could help, if you look at the pros Gangier skates crichton skates, but I think anything liek skateboarding surfing etc would help with balence, I guess just check it out yourself
anyone know a site that has trick roller blades ( I dont know what there called.) Cuz all I ever find in stores are roller hockey and cross country type roller blades.
its crazy. I found rolling down a drop-in switch almost impossible the first 20 times. It really makes you notice how forgiving skis are in terms of balance.
same thing here. and i can switch to blading cuz i would get my ass kicked. no one likes bladers. once i was blading and couple skaters hit me with a skateboard in the back.
yea no doubt it helps. i usually do it in the off season-late pring summer. seattles a pretty good skate community too, but im not good i have a box in my driveway. but skiing tops all yea knoe
But alot of sports can help with balance. I blade and skate and suck at blading Iv only done that for about a month or two but skateboarding is my favorite and it helps a crap load with balance.
yeah, it will help w/ balance, the motions you use rolling and skiing are pretty much the same. like someone else said, it makes you realize how forgiving your skis can be. once you start skating you wont be able to land on your tails (or tips). being able to land directly on your feet makes you look and jump way more solid. it will help you with rails, although down rails are a bit different on skis than on skates.
rolling helps my switch skiing a ton. thats almost identical, too. learn how to tear a park switch and carving switch through a ski school group will be no problem.
rollerblading doesnt help shit...look at tanner arguably the best park/pipe skier in the world.....he despises rollerblading and everything associated with it....he would probably rather die than go rollerblading you dont need to do it and anyone that says you do is wrong.
as has been said before, all "extreme" sports are the same level of difficulty, it just comes from how hard you push yourself.
so while it might be harder to grind a 10 set on a skateboard, its also hard to grind a 100 stair kinked rail on blades. The sports aren't comparable on similar features, no one is trying to say that sliding a ten foot rail is as hard on blades as on a board, but also no one is doing the ridiculous rails that bladers are doing.
^ just plain, yes.
thats all true, but y do people always have to hate rollerblading?
lots of snowboarders hate skiers and think theyre gay, which a lot of us skiers ignore, or dont care, or just like know that skiing is big and hard too. well its is the same with rollerblading. people hate it, but its just cuz u dont know or dont wanna. us skiers think its stupid when people say skiing is retarded. so we know what its like. y would we go and do that to rollerblading? its just as hard as skiing. but hard in different ways
Well actually, if you want the truth. Rollerblading and skateboarding don't even compare to scootering. If you want to improve you skiing skills over the summer, and you want wicked steeze, and crazy balance; then you need to invest in a scooter. You can do the mad no handers and sweet foot kickers to the side. I would post a video of it, but I don't have anything to prove.
i dont understand how people can try and argue that inline doesnt help your skiing. most of the tricks and movements are nearly identical. i think people would see this a lot more if they saw inline clips from like the mid 90s xgames or something because back then was when tricks like cork 9's and basic frontside to backside switchups and 270's in and out were big tricks. today rollerblading is sooo technical its hard to show a skier a fairly new inline video and have them be able to make any connection to it.
if you buy some skates and ride a good bit of park youll probably understand how inline would help your skiing more. the fact that you only have about 1/5 of the surface area to land on under your feet requires you to stick cleaner landings on blades which will definitly help your skiing. inline can help your muscle memory with spins(it is easier to spin on blades but its a good way to practice unnatty spins and getting your control down). personally i think inline would help you more with jumps and air awareness than it would with rail balance. taking off and landing switch, spins, corks, bios, flips. even slowing down your spins and working on grabs inline can help you with. i dont think just hoping on to rails will help you learn to much but the blades will help you learn switchups and spins in and out of rails.
i wanna try and make an edit this summer about cross training with inline. no tech shit like you see in a lot of videos but lots of park riding and ski related tricks.
and im definitly not bashing on skateboarding, hell i skateboard too. ive been doing inline longer but skateboarding is fun as shit. definitly helps you with all around balance and learning to tweak little things to make yourself better but personally i dont see it relating quite as directly to skiing as inline would.
rollerblading is sick and more ppl should do it. both maz and tosh peters skated. stefan thomas skates... all the battersbys skate!!! everyone just needs to stop hating...
I used some of my friends skates a few times last night but they really didnt fit me that great and I've been wanting to get some skates for a while. What are some good beginner skates that arent too expensive?
coming into skiing after rollerblading for years I found that it can help. When throwing spins I just think about if I was doing it on skates and it makes it more natural than thinking that it is different cause im on skis. Obviously the length of the skis is a big difference compared to blading. It helps with positioning on rails but not really balance since you don't have an h-block to lock in to.
