Replying to Queens Cup was AWSOME.....
I noticed that none of the girls wrote about how awsome the whole weekend was so here it is.....
I arrived in Park City late on Sat, and skied about an hour in the crowded park. I had never seen so many sick girl skiers in my life. There were prob like 20 girls out there like at 3pm just tearin it up. After embarrassing myself in the park, there was a meeting and dinner where we got to meet like 70% of the girls and our coaches. All of the pro's were really cool and would just come up to just random girls and introduce themselves, to make us feel more confortable. Once we ate pizza, told the schedule for sunday, and informed of what team we were on, we were sent home to sleep.
The next morning we got upto the mountain at 8am to register and fill out papers and stuff. At around 9:30 we all went out and practiced. Some were with their teams, some with personal coaches they brought, and some with just friends. The best part about it was that they closed the whole park for us, so we didn't have to worry about not getting enough practice in. So we were skiing til about 12, which was when we met at the bottom, and they officially announced the teams. Once we were on a team, we started practicing together for about an hour. Most of the teams seemed to stick together, but it seemed that some still wanted to fly solo. But by the time the comp started, it seemed like everyone had everything together. The only thing I would complain about is that we couldn't really see what all the other teams were doing at first. I actually got to see some teams on the first run, since my damn binding broke off on the first hit. But I had enough time to boot ski all the way to the bottom, grab my msp's and make my way up again. Our 2nd run was sick tho. We were trying to stick close together cause we heard the judges gave more points for that, and "old school" tricks. I remember Julie and Vicoria went off the first jump at the same time and Suz did a sick backflip right in front of me. After we all went off the last 45 ft jump, and after Julie broke her elbow on it, we all held hands going on the last box and we all hit the wallride at the same time. Right after us was Grete's team, who seemed to have the most team spirit, mooned everyone under the 45 ft jump. The vibe was awsome. After everone was finished with their 2nd run, we had like a chinese downhill session with everyone goin down at the same time, which gave all the pros a chance to showoff their skills. Laurent was pullin some gnarly screaming seamen stuff onto boxes, along with other pros totally goin for it and giving the crowd a show. So after the festivities, awards, and pictures, we went back to the meeting room to socialize, get autographs, and lots of goodies from the awsome sponsors. Whata ending to an awsome day.I can't really say too much about the afterparty cause I dont quite remember it too clearly...just remember familiar faces all around me and drunk people dancing their asses off.... too much fun! I can't wait til next year! Thanks Anna!!
