almost everytime i land switch off bigger jumps if i dont land like perfect my ski pops off, and even if i do land good if i get just a little on my tails, or if i turn just a little bit i pop out. i guess thats because of the forward pressure? my shop is gay and they seriously dont know what switch is, so they set my bindings up pretty bad, i put my dins up to almost 12 and i only weigh 140, and they still pop out super easy. so how do i fix the forward pressure or whatever? if thats what it is.
your bindings are comming out cause you have them pinned...the springs have no where to go when you land and you pop out...don't max the forward pressure only two things will happen...more releases ot PCL injury (way worse than ACL, just ask my left knee)
if you are really comming out as easily as you say, you need to get better bindings or YOUR boots are too worn to stay in the binder....
I ski markers as do the majority of my "pro" bros....the 14 free and 18 comp are two of the most reliable binders ever made...many of the BEST skiers in both freeskiing and racing use markers...don't talk shit if you don't know shit
i say i for markers sucking. but to answer your question... take a screw driver up to the hill one day and play around with your bindings till you get them working good. s12's are good bindings, but the wings come loose easy. try tightening the wings up a little (nt too tight or you will have a similar problem. that is my guess cuz i had the same thing happen to me when i was on solomons.
Ive got s912 and Ive got em at 9 and I dont kick out at times I dont wanna kick out. 810s I would kick out at 9... check the forward pressure and maybe degrease the heal tracks and re-lube them with light oil
all i know is that i demoed pe's and they were mounted with marker free 12's, they were set on 10 and they released when i landed a bit backseat off a 10ft jump-neither my sallys or looks on my skis at home have done that & i have them set on 8 & 7 respectively.
first off if you way 140 pounds you shouldnt have a din of 12, its just not safe. sec make sure that the heal is scooted up far enough, and if you have salo . check wings and the quadrac thing that needs to be set at .5 mm or whatever. oh and that guy who said this springs are maxed .. he is prob right
just try moving ur heel piece forward 1 click at hte mountain, then take some runs. if u still pop, go another. do that untill u have a nice setting that hold u, but pops when u want.
for hte down and wing pressure. just put ur boots in, nad tighten the wings like hand tight. u want it just tight enough so ur boot wont move if u move ur foot side to side, but a little movement is ok. this is usually accomplished by just leaving hte boots in, nad trying to tighten them, its gets hard quickly, just go until it stops u. dont sit there using all ur force to get them tighter.
then the down pressure. pop ur boot in, and take a piece of paper nad put it under neath the toe of hte boot and the slider thingy. then tighten it until there is just a little resistance when moving hte paper around.
i know these arent the "technical" ways, but they are hte best ways to have a safe binding that still holds u in awesomely on switch landings
well done, w/ my salos i wieghr 140 and havent fucked with the din ever since my shop mounted them, they are at 6-6.5 ish and have only had one release on a pretty sketchy landing but nothing that im bitching about so far.
I weigh 185 and am 5-10 and I havent prereleased with a din setting of 9 on the 912s... I might step it up to 10 sometime but Ive never popped out when I dont want to and Ive never felt excessive stress on my legs or knees either in a fall...
i'll talk shit on markers all day long. they're unreliable pieces of shit. i've personally skiied them and ended up getting rid of them.
we do release checks like everywhere else after we mount people's bindings at work. markers readings are rediculous... they never have a consistent reading and they fail over 50% of the time because of it.
