Hey me and some buddies are planning a trip for our reading break from Uni in two weeks, we are going to be in the Fernie area in BC but are curoise about heading south for something different, is Big Mountain worth going down or are we doing the opposite of what most people do and come up to fernie. Also is there anywhere else with some good terrain (big mountain riding, steaps and a lot of snow) below the border that isn't that a far of a drive like in Idaho?

I'd just stay in Fernie, that place is awesome. Big Mountain is really fun if you hit it on a powder day, but their terrain just can't be compared with Fernie's.

Big Mountain is definately worth coming to right now. I have never been to Canada (unfortunately), but i hear the border is only like 2 hrs away from Whitefish, which is right below Big Mountain.
The conditions at Big Mountain are really good right now. Been snowing alot, 120+ inch base right now. The terrain park is pretty weak compared to most parks. But there are ALOT of natural features all over the mountain, like cornices, natural rollers and jumps that one just needs to keep his eye open for or have someone show you. I just went last friday and had an EPIC powder day.
Big Mountain is definately worth checking out in my opinion.
Now to just try and get across the Canadian border without any trouble. >_

It's worth it to come to Big Mtn.
However, Sun Valley is 10+ hours from Kalispell, so I don't know if you want to go there.

personally I didn't like big mountain at all, there are some cool cliffs, but thats about it in my opinion. Fernie would be better.

Big Mtn is nice, but if I could I would have a pass at Fernie. That place has the goods.
