Ok so i want to apply to CVA next year but i am torn betwean weather to apply for raceing or freestyle. I race on my HS teams o they would have resoults to look at but I would obv much rather be on the freestyle team. I have never done a major comp thou so i dont kno how I could get in. Also i was wondering how much they looka t academics or if it is realy jsut ski based. I have like a C average, nothing special.
you don't have to be to good to go to a ski academy. As far as grades go you should have B's and A's, maybe some C's. Also if you like racing go there for racing, if you like freeride, go for freeride its better anyway.
just cuz dan and corey came outta there doesnt mean that you have to be pro to get in. ive ridden with the cva kids before, a lot of them arent fantasticly good. not a dis to cva kids, some of you are really sick.
yea my rents want to send me to green mountain school, all raceing but a good school to. I hope grades arent a problem i have like strait Cs now. What if i took sumemr courses or re did a year. I also heard from some people that as long as u can ski moderatly well and pay u can go, not that that will be the case for me hopefully.... But its deff allot of money, i can only go if my sister gets a scholership for college again
a) CVA stands for Carrabassett Valley Academy, so you don't need to say CVA Academy.
b) why the hell would you even think about racing?
c) look at Gould Academy
I went to a ski academy. If you are not USSA and are not nationally ranked for yer age group (Junior olympics, FIS races) go with freestyle. You will have more fun. I am not familiar with CVA but I know all of the big Academys and the racers have dedicated their lives to chasing gates. You most likely will not even be able to race for a decent college team. Just the cold facts
i ski at sunday river every weekend and talk to a hell of alot of Gould kids. i consistatly here that they are so uptight about rules and bedtimes and shit. cva is MUCH more chill. and a better skiing school overall.
ya but if you go to high school for freestyle skiing you are really fucking stupid. even if you become as big as vanular, your future looks pretty grim. pro skiers dont make a great living anyways and when he is done with skiing, where will he go? his high school education was sub-par of his peers. go to gould. better academics, good skiing. or holderness-great academics, still good skiing
I wouldn't say much more chill. It's a good place to learn to ski, but that's about it. They are strict, and the school is... well, worse than your school probably. But you do get to ski, if you can handle the rest of it. And def. go for freestyle, it's better
im also looking at killington moutian school, how would u say that is. my rents would like me to go to GMVS but i couldnt get in prob cuase i only race on the highschool leval and its nothing but alpine racing
