The Skis That Started it All

Yo, I have the 2003 Salomon 1080 skis for sale, size 169, the white Vincent Dorion Model. They are the year before the spaceframe came out and have only cosmetic damage. The bindings on them are S912 Ti and are also in great shape. These skis have not been ridden very much since I bought them new and still have a lot of life in them. yeah the skis that started it i believe are olin.. correct me if im wrong but i think they were the first twin tips that my dad proudly rocks

they did have twin tips back in the day. wooden tiwn tips from the 30's or somehting like that. they didn't catch on though

im gonna have to say that the ostness dragons were pretty damn close to 'the ski that started it all' those were sick. i wish i could find a pair.

word...the orange ones...but i think for the modern revolution the original yellow 1080s in Warren Miller Snowriders 2 are the "ski that started it all"

no im almost positvie that the first mass produced park ski was some ski by K2 i just read it in some magazine..if i find the article ill cite it for you guys.. but i guess youll just have to take my word for it

Ya I think it was Olin... the first twins, but they really did not have a tail that was as big as the tip, the tails were just flaired up a bit.

For sure, there were some other companies that dabbled in the twin tip idea..but lets be honest, love salomon or hate them, you can't possibly claim that their skis didn't push skiing into the progressive sport that it is today. They pushed freeskiing farther forward than any other company, bar none. And these 1080's are the planks that allowed it..legendary.

And as for "how much are you paying people to take them", I am curious to what your specific problem is. If your problem is the foam core, then maybe you should try the skis, because they still have plenty of pop, and thanks to the foam core, they are light and responsive. If you are just jumping on the bandwagon, because you think it is cool to hate large (and consequently progressive) companies, then buddy...come-on, get a life. These are really solid skis (not to mention the awesome style they have now and will have in the future).

Yeah the "ski that started it all" would have been the original yellow 1080.

Well yes, you are right, and I realize this, but what I was referring to is the 1080 in general. These are a far better ski than the yellow ones, and even if they are a year older, they still represent the early days of the sport and will be remembered as epic skis...much like the first year of the Scratch's with the naked lady.
