These things sound weird, has McConkey actually riden them? Is there any pictures around the net of them?

They have reverse sidecut and reverse camber. That is, they are wider in the middle than at tip and tail and are bent like a smile instead of frowning like normal skis. Powder-only, they will not turn in anything less than 5 inches of snow. Odd, but I'll wait to see the reviews.

I heard they were pipe skis, i dunno they sound kinda wierd. Everyone made fun of Mcconkey when he was on fat skis and now everyone uses them. But I think this is going too far.

fools. The spatula makes incredible sense...when you're riding in 2 feet of fresh. It's the same tried and tested design principal as a surf board. Most strictly powder skis have no sidecut whatsoever because you don't need it, the edges don't have anything to grab anyways. When you ski, obviously most of your weight goes directly under your feet, so doesn't it make sense to have the ski wider underfoot for better floatation? Also the reverse sidecut allows shane to side slip the skis easier when he's in those 'gonna die if i fuck up' tight ass situtations he likes to get into while billy-goating around the mountain.

It's a wicked design and apparently it works sweet. But again...not for the groomed runs.

It doesnt work at all for groomed? I mean its probibly just a pain in the ass, but once there on powder they must kick ass. Damn, I want to try those things.

Weren't designed for the groom but you could probably get by if you threw your weight around akin to a boarder or something.
How many are they making for '04? 300 again?

This ski WILL NOT work on groomed runs. It would be impossible to weight the tips of the skis, and even if you did, you'd (theoretically) turn the opposite way you leaned. Which would be nearly impossible to get used to.

yah..you wouldn't take them to a resort at all. They're made for heli-skiing and touring only.

deffinitly you need alot of pow to ride those babys. I got a set of Fischer big stix 106 (135-106-123) this year and ther fucking huge. they dont work in anything less then 4 inchs of pow. its seriously impossible to ski the fishys on hardpack.

Shane skis them in Ski movie 3... if you look close at his skis you will notice the weird shape. He rips on 'em too.

Because they're designed strictly for pow pow, i'd bet you can't demo a pair on the mountain... unless it was a crazy powder day... and yeah, jibs is right, they do make perfect sense, but i still don't know... apparently, they're shaped after water skis.

im not sure you will be able to buy them from a shop anyway. Because they are only making 300 it will probably be special order anyway. And anyone who thinks that you will able to demo these skis or ski anything but powder hasnt thought it through. Because of the reverse camber it is physically impossible to turn on a flat surface, thus you can't ski it on a regular hill.
