I want to get into Kayaking there is a white water park right next to my house. Nothing too intense but pretty sick. Any suggestions on a good boat for me im 6' 180 looking for something fun and quick. looking to spend about 400 for everything. Also has anyone ever slid a rail on a kayak I was thinking about it and it might be possibe maby not as I said I am just starting out.
I tried real whitewater kayaking for a weekend, but it wasnt really what I expected. Youre really still very boat like in the water, and kinda just have to ride shit out. I thought I'd have more control or something, but I guess it takes a long time to actually be able to manipulate you rapids.
300 is pretty cheep, but thats a 3-4 year old boat. The best boats being made right now are by jackson kayaks. Its a company founded by one of the best freestyle kayakers out there. The kind of kayak you get also dpeendso n what you want to do. Either freestyle or river running. For freestyle i would get the jackson all-star. Best boat around for cartwheeling and catching air. A good bigger river-runner and playboat is the wavesport EZ. This is a few year old boat but is the best when it comes to versatility. The key is trying the boats out. I am sure they have demos at the park you have by your place. Take some boats o nthe water, makle sure there are no pinches and you fit well. Also make sure ytou get the right size, too smal land you will be stern squirting down the river and purling your bow. Too heavy and you wont be able to throw it around and you will lose maneuverability and control. Send me a message if you have any questions, I've been kayking for several years now.
im sure there are some used boats around. look for something like a wavesport EZ. i always liked running that boat. and i know there a used daggers sitting around waiting to be sold.
