i keep having trouble landing off of small jumps. it seems like everytime i try to land backwards i go into a snowplow and my face hits the snow. its pissing me off but i dont know what to do to fix it. i dont even try to snowplow backwards but it keeps happening. any advice?
but like how do i keep from landing on my face? it get annoying cause people laugh cause i have ar5s and cant even land 180s off the kiddy jumps without hitting my face. is snowboarding easier? cause this is bullshit.
When u aproach the jump band ur knees. Jump at the op and look behind u. This is the best thing to do when u start 180. But try practising without ski's on, the ground. Try 360 and stuff. But i dont realy get it why u fall on ur face. Do ur skis get crossed over? Maybe u bend to much forward try to get ur balancepoint (dont now whats it called in english) low and in the middle.
ugh.
snowboarding is easier.
next time you go up a lip, bomb it full speed, and when you pop, throw your weight and head backwards. Trust me. It's better than a 180, and you won't die.
work on ur switch skiing that makes it so much easier to land switch of jumps last year i couldn't ski switch at all and couldn't land switch but now i can ski switch and it makes a huge difference in the park
you need to be able to ski swithc at higher speeds first, then make sure that you keep your speed into the jump you dont have to look for the jump when doing 180, just make sure that yuou land as flat as possible and keep your speed!
dude when doing a 180 dont even think about it just turn dont make it harder than it is trust me if u just have confiedence and dont think too much ull land it no problem
Once you've learned to carve switch, I'd say the next step is to learn to spin into switch position while you are still moving first. Start slow, then gradually work up to higher speeds. Once you are comfortable spinning into switch while moving at a decent speed, try to pop them while you are moving on flat ground. That is, start moving forward and hop into switch instead of sliding. You'll probably need to use your pole to help with the pop and rotation. Once you've got that down then pop off of small bumps while still using your pole to help initiate rotation.
Once you feel completely comfortable popping them off of bumps and small lips, approach the smallest jump that you can find in the park do the same thing. You'll still look lame but it will build your confidence and the snowplow thing shouldn't happen.
Once you've got that - approach the small jump with more speed, pop, and initiate your rotation and look over your spin-side shoulder.
Sounds like a lot of work, but working through this stuff should only take like 2-3 hours max.
try not to lean forward adn keep you weight centered over your skis when you land. Also, find some green run and just practice skiing switch. Good luck
i started skiing a month ago and i learned by first getting comfortable riding switch and just jumping and doing 180's either on a flat with little speed or on a little incline. your also somehow leaning to far forward if your head or whatever is hitting the ground. find your balance riding backwards or its never going to work. don't quit you fuckin bought ar5's
u just gotta practice riding switch...ride up to the top of the mountain and find a circle trail with like no one on it and just go down switch the whole way. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.
now. pop and make sure you set the spin flat with your shoulders. look for your landing. fight to keep your skis straight, have confidence and ride it like a little bitch.
