i personally have only snowboarded a few times and find it quite boring. and i figured a lot of you dont snowboard, but for anyone who has what is harder skiing or snowboarding? especially on the technical side.

I found snowboarding to be harder. With skiing there is always the option to snowplow, whereas snowboarding you have to learn to carve in order to slow down and having your feet attached was really weird. Skiing is so much more natural. I just fell over and over again for hours snowboarding, whereas skiing I picked up the first day fairly well.

i think skiing would be easier since you have the freedom of moving your feet

I dunno i skied for like 5 years, stopped, tagged along with my friends in the whole "snowboarding phase" and then quit when it turned out to be way harder than i expected

i think its a lot easier to start snowboarding. there are so many other boardsports like it, i am a wakeboarder and i longboard. i picked snowboarding up so easy, i was boardliding rails frontside and backside. i can imagine its hard to get good at.
yea its fun though, i realized that i mastered skiing and everything, theres not much more for me to learn because im just so damn good, so snowboarding is next.

and skiied a good part of my life and now snowboard. I also freestyle skied last year. I find skiing easier cause you just have more options to maneuver.

way easier to pick up snowboarding and get the turns worked out. landing big jumps on skis is easier but rails are easier on boards and skiing is also way easier to to spins

First learning- snowboards
Rails- skiing
And that's all I know because I only snowboarded for two years a long time ago.

skiing = easy to learn, hard to master
snowboarding = hard to learn, easy to master

snowboarding is way harder, i have snowboarded for 3 years and skied for 4 and i know the difference. its way harder to grind(boardslides)and to hit jumps.

Dude I put on a snowboard just last month and slid my first rail 50-50 then boardslid it second try. It's easier to do rails on boards.

i snowboarded for 2 years after i started skiing, and i picked snowboarding up wayy easier, skiing is very technical.. you have more stuff to work with whereas with a boarding.. its just the snowboard.

oh man another thread like this, alright heres the equation:
snowboarding-harder to learn, easier to get better at
skiing-easier to learn, waaay harder to get better at

Thats exactly right. I tell everyone that who asks me. Snowboarding is hard the first few days until you learn to carve, then you improve crazy fast. Skiing on the other hand, it is easy at first for beginners to just go down the mountain. But it takes years in order to get good at moguls, blacks, ice, pow pow, and overall style.

anyone else ski w. boarders? the boarders are all having fun on rails and im still a little timid around em cause honestly it seems harder on skis. oh and the worst part is the whole switch board vs. switch ski thing, one of my friends doesnt seem to get that its a little harder to land backwards and so she talks crap about it, grr im in an angry mood see what those damn xgames have done

ive had a few years experience on both, ive come to discover that rails are alot harder on skis, but jumps on skis are hella easier.
and i dont mean just straight airs and all that lame shit. but thats just my preference.

ya totally. I feel like snowboarding is harder to master, the ballence point is singular rather than plural so you end up falling if you make mistakes snowboarding, rather than being able to recover with that other leg.

skiing for sure, it took me like 3 years to learn to ski well, and all of a day and a half to snowboars equally fst, carving, etc.

skiing is harder for me it took me 9 years to be able to ski the entire mountain, which at our mountain it is really extreme, on a snowboard it took me only two years

in my experience, ive found snowboarding is harder to learn, easier to master, and the other way around for skiing. but it varries from person to person.

the way i have heard and experienced is
snowboarding= worst time of your life for the first few days then once you learn, you get better way faster nd its easier.
skiing= easy to learn and stuff but it takes and is harder to get good at it.

i've done both, and i find skiing is a lot easier to get down the hill. but stuff like rails and shit is a lot harder on skis. snowboarding is harder to learn, but tricks come a bit easier.

it is harder two get started snowboarding, but once you can link turns and carve it takes about a month two become very good. skiing on the other hand is easy to learn the basics then it gets harder two learn how to really ski, (which some still can not do).

I personally found snowboarding very easy to learn, and skiing a little more tricky. But i guess I was 5 when learning to ski and i was 10 when learning how to snowboard.
I think most people have more trouble learning to snowboard, but its easier to get good at. And skiing is easier to learn but harder to get good at.

snowboarding is easy to learn. in half an huor i already had the turns n shit mastered. another half hour later i was comfortable straitlining all the runs at pakenham (worst hill in existance for those eastern ontarioians)

ok..here we go
I started snowboarding about 7 years ago.It came easy to me because i had never done anything in the snow beside sledding so i picked it up pretty fast. Snowboarding began to get popular and every1 started to do it and it was really gay. And alot of boarders are douchebags and are like " skiings so gay" and ive never met an asshole skier before that says nething about boarding. Also my friends all went from snowboarding to skiing about 3 yrs ago and started building all their jumps, rails, ect. to the point where you have to have poles and push yourself..so i could never really hit any of their stuff and it sucked just watching them. So this year i decided to switch from boarding to skiing and the first time i got onto those skis i could barely go down the bunny hill at my local mnt. it was extremely hard for me to switch from boarding to skiing after all those years ive been boarding. So i thought skiing was really hard when every1 else said snowboarding was really hard. and after like 2 times at the mnt i began to pick it up and ill never do any other snow sport again. Skiing is the greatest thing that ever happened to me. All i can think about is skiing and i want to go all the time! anyy wayss I

skiing is harder hands down. i learned to snowboard in two days. it took me forever to learn how to ski. but i think it is harder to hit jumps on a snowboard.
All times are Eastern (-5)
