Replying to I thought it was a good contest (Xgames)
In my opinion, this is the direction skiing should go. I don't know what the hell you guys are talking and spazzing about. What's the deal? I thought it was a sick competition with a bigass booter for the pros to hit and we saw some sick sw 1080s.
I think this is good for the sport. All competitions should be big air in my opinion. Who wants to see a bunch of pros going down a slopestyle course sliding rails that arent any different than rails I have at my home mountain. And then they throw little tricks off the smaller jumps like sw 540s, 720s, 900s, etc. I don't want to see that pussy shit, I want to see the big jump at the bottom.
I think all competitions should be big air where everyone tries to do the biggest and best spin, and then the judges analyze each jump frame by frame to see who held their grab the longest and who tweaked their ski the most. That would settle once and for all who is the best, and it would be easier judging too. Nothing objective about, just see who held the grab the longest and who landed the cleanest.
And it should always be the bigger spin wins, otherwise we arent progressing the sport, just keeping it stale by doing the same sw 720s and sw 900 over and over.
My ideal future of skiing competitions is this:
A big air where everyone spins a switch 1440
Judges go back and watch each jump in slow motion to see who held the grab the longest and where they grabbed (each grab would have different point values). That would be the ideal competition, do away with small jumps, rails, and boxes. We just want to see the sick big air!
