In my opinion, this is the direction skiing should go. I don't know what the hell you guys are talking and spazzing about. What's the deal? I thought it was a sick competition with a bigass booter for the pros to hit and we saw some sick sw 1080s.
I think this is good for the sport. All competitions should be big air in my opinion. Who wants to see a bunch of pros going down a slopestyle course sliding rails that arent any different than rails I have at my home mountain. And then they throw little tricks off the smaller jumps like sw 540s, 720s, 900s, etc. I don't want to see that pussy shit, I want to see the big jump at the bottom.
I think all competitions should be big air where everyone tries to do the biggest and best spin, and then the judges analyze each jump frame by frame to see who held their grab the longest and who tweaked their ski the most. That would settle once and for all who is the best, and it would be easier judging too. Nothing objective about, just see who held the grab the longest and who landed the cleanest.
And it should always be the bigger spin wins, otherwise we arent progressing the sport, just keeping it stale by doing the same sw 720s and sw 900 over and over.
My ideal future of skiing competitions is this:
A big air where everyone spins a switch 1440
Judges go back and watch each jump in slow motion to see who held the grab the longest and where they grabbed (each grab would have different point values). That would be the ideal competition, do away with small jumps, rails, and boxes. We just want to see the sick big air!

holy shit dude, there are so many more creative features you can work into a comp than a big kicker, this one was only like 60 ft. too.
you would seriously rather watch only the last booter of the slopestyle course, than the whole thing?

What are you talking about with the rails? thats the cool thing is how pros work w/the basic rails and get creative.
As for the jumps i think its stupid how the judges analyze frame for frame. Granted its important to look smooth in the air and landing but its annoying when they compare whos grab was further out and what-not.

honestly i disagree with you 100%.....u hate slopestyle?? that is the most fun to watch! it shows the diversity of the skier and his/her ability all around the park...and u said u want to see everyone do a switch 1440??? if u watched yesterday u may have noticed that it got pretty boring knowing that everybody would all drop in switch and ALL thro a 1080 except for a few ppl....you are the exact person that will ruin the sport of freestyle skiing jus by wanting to see the SAME thing and not keeping it real....

i thought the 1080 with a grab was just getting repeatative and i really didn't care that schiller held is grab for 7 picture frames instead of others 5 frames. that should make no difference. plus some of the corked spins should've beat schiller. plus the double back owned all.

this doesnt even count as a pro big air event. the jump was 50 feet and they were going to the bottom of the landing.

you want to reduce skiing to a huckfest. dumbass. and it doesnt really matter where you want to see skiing go, it kind of seems like its up to the athletes how the competitions are set up, and most of the athletes are pretty pissed about the whole thing.

"And it should always be the bigger spin wins, otherwise we arent progressing the sport, just keeping it stale by doing the same sw 720s and sw 900 over and over."
You contradicted yourself, everyone doing switch 10s is very stale.

wow u r gay, first u say u dont want to see the same 5's 7's &'9s but then u say u want to see every1 toss the same trick (1440) make up ur mind, and u dont like slopystlyes, thats wat shows the diversity of the skiiers by wat different shit they string together, if it wsa up to me i would have less big air comps, ya there cool every once in a while especaily when some1 zeros the huge ass hit! and this jsut wasnt even big, the jumps in the middle of the grav games were bigger then the last hit in the x games!!

its big air though so it should be.. in slopestyle it should be about STYLE in big air it should be trying to throw the biggest trick but also make it look nice hold the grab

I just thought that 1080, after 1080 got boring, I think they shouldve been trying to throw bigger than the other guy, rather than just do his trick nicer

they need to mix it up some, maybe some more flips or something really random
All times are Eastern (-5)
