Good to see Candide again

Besides the fact that it looked like the instant replay got stuck in the editing booth at ESPN last night with countless 1080's going off, it was nice to see someone go off axis and make a nice return to TV in Candide's underflip 1080. Where has he been this year? Did he do any filming last year even though being out due to his knee? PS, did anyone else notice that he went so big he had time to smoke a cig after his last rotation before finding his landing? He should have thrown another rotation in or something.

Wow dude. You really need to chill out. I've seen you post the same message on every thread, sometimes really angrilly. Go have a smoke and realize that no one really cares what moves are called and all that matters was that it was big and sweet. You're like that kid in the computer lab arguing with the professor about how fast one chip is over the other. You're making yourself sound like a dork.

Candide was in War and I'm pretty sure it wasn't an underflip. I think the announcers were wrong.

hahaha you speak the truth man. I love people that get all their little ol panties in a bunch over this.
This guy called it an "underflip" because that's what they USED to be called. Now everyone just everything corks. So you are both right. It is actually an underflip, but they arent called underflips anymore, now its all just corks, which is cool.
On the Candide note:
He is my alltime favorite skier, ever since State of Mind and a few years later 13. In my opinion, the sickets skiing segment ever was Candide's in 13. People don't realize or appreciate the skills he has and the risks he takes every year to push skiing. Think about all the biggest moments in the movies in the last 5 years, and a majority of them have come from Candide:
(1997)State of Mind: double backflip
(1999) 13: HUGE backcountry, flatspin 7, Xgames big air
(2000) Further: CHAD'S GAP DSPIN
(2000) XGames gold with a *gasp* Dpsin 9
(2002) Ski Movie 3: Hitting the monster hip like a table...WHAT??
(2003) XGames gold new standard in Pipe
(2004) 810 to rail
He's been around for years and he's still going, plus, he refused to adopt that stupid "safety grab monkey style" when it was cool. All his grabs are stil solid and held and tweaked, not just these little touches other pros do sometimes. Candide is definitely still up there with the best.

No. An underflip is where a skiier turns 90, does a lincoln downhill, than turns the last 90. It is basically a misty 5 split into 3 parts rather than a 180 spun during a downhill lincoln (misty 5).
I don't think there was an underflip in Candide's trick. Perhaps I missed it though.

seriously dude, chill out. no one cares what it is called except you. I bet if we keep calling it an underflip even if it is a cork it would send you into an brain anyurism.

i disagree with you ^^^ it cant have been an underflip. you cant throw an underflip ten, it would be d-spin. not possible. i suppose you could call it that, but it wouldnt be correct.

Yeah, I think it was a d-spin.

Yeah, I think it is. Uphill lincoln during a 180 would be a rodeo 5. Overflip would be 90 then uphill lincoln then 90.
Someone back me up.

90 to downhill lincoln 90 is infact an underflip.

yes that is a misty
and in anunderflip you go completely upside down in a cork you go only off axis, for a small portion of his trick he went a little over cork but was not an underflip

^which i would think is therefore a dspin, especially since it was thrown in a ten.

i like him because he is one of the shortest guys out there, goes bigger than anyone, doesn't speak english, and most of all, he has a competition where he is like the only person hitting the jumps because they are so big. X games jumps was like a gommet park to him. (grommet= park with 4 ft flat bars, box's level with the ground, and jumps that the back of the lip is the landing. thats what mount snow calls it. ir if you prefer hotdog hill @ okemo thats fine too)
