are u kidding?? its not like he penciled that shit out to make it look gay.. he threw a grab in that and held it and tweaked that.. there is no doubt that was was progression...
It wasn't hucked at all. I am all for the fact that some huge spins look like shit when they are hucked, but this one wasnt. It was smooth and clean. It looked like he was spining a 7. And honestly, everyone loves the floaty 3s etc, but I don't think that a smooth, tweaked 3 deserves to beat that switch 1440.
How was that hucked? You are retarded, he had good stable consistent body position through all 4 rotations, held the grab for 3 and landed cleanly. Hucked is coming off the jump in pencil mode and looking sloppy.
Of course he was rotating fast, you have to rotate fast to spin 4 times. Doesn't mean it was hucked. It's fine to say you didn't think it looked good because of how fast he was spinning but you can't say it's hucked, that is wrong.
i think that too, the sickest trick every is mickal cab d 10 blunt, that is sick, i havnt seen the cab 1440, if it is clean the yeah thats cool, but if it is a pencil cab 1440 with a boot grab, then well, its basically him going really big and spinning fast, personally id much rather see a cab cork 9 cruton or something like that
You guys who are calling the 1440 unprogressive need to reconsider what you're thinking. Yes I think that a really nice switch 5/7 all styled out is totally sick and every pro should be able to do it. But the fact is that when somebody throws a solid 10, and by solid i mean not flailing and has a good grab in it, the person is going to get beaten if he tries to do something slow/stylie with a short spin. The fact is that in slopestyle/big air pros need to spin big. Style is a very important factor, but it shouldn't be the overal determining factor to why someone wins. And I mean, come on, for a 1440 that is by far the least hucked meat I've seen.
ok so heres waht i have to say.....tj should win he did a SMOOTH cab 1440 with a nice grab
now people are calling it a "spin to win"....sure its get to that point and it sucks.....but the people who judge it arnt crack heads off the street...big air does have compents to how thgey score the riders
and u have to rember this is a big way the pros make ther money to live (except for big checks from sponcers)
see u have people who say he should of won and people who say he shouldnt
u have people who say they dont weant skiing to go that way and u have people who say they do want the sport to go that way
so no matter what there is always gunna be conflict and sopme people are and im sorry top put it htis way...ignorent and think there way is the besy way....people can voice there opions but dont say that they are "fucking stupid" or "they dont kno shit" cauyse the fact is people have diffrent taste...not everyone in the world is the same...so fucking deal with it
i dont know how people can think that was hucked, mabye since the camera was far away its hard to see how much style he had, he wasnt spinning that fast and he did it so perfect. if you say it was hucked your just jealous because your never going to be able to do it.
I haven't read the whole thread, but I know it's "1440s suck, cork 5s should win big air".
I understand what you mean, like we have spun enough and now we should get back to slower spins landed clean and stuff. The thing is, if a cork 5 can win USFO big air, anyone, even I could sign up (if it wasn't on invitation) and have a chance of getting second place with a 360...I'm exagerating a bit obviously, but there needs to be a difficulty factor in a comp where 10 000$ are at stake. Plus, imagine the controversy after every event...we're the first to say "style can't be judged" and then we want to judge cork 5s...
let's say someone does a cork 5 blunt grabbed all the way, tweaked the hell out, landed good, no hands touching. Then someone else does a cork 5 blunt, very tweaked, just not held as long, and landed lower and cleaner than the first one...which one would you say wins ? 50% of the people are gonna say "the first guy" and the other 50% will say "the second guy".
then the NS forum will be spammed with "first guy should have one" or "second guy got screwed" and it would be an endless discussion about style...
I can't believe there is even a debate about this. Coming off switch and doing FOUR FULL ROTATIONS, with a grab that most of us can't do the whole way through a seven. Charles v. TJ was a perfect match up, and the most insane trick won. Big air has always been about just going nuts. Back when Vincent D was throwing some of the first sw9s, did people say he was 'spinning to win'? No. I'm sick of hearing that phrase just because Pep said it in a mag.
although yes, he did stomp it, I have never watched anything that charles has done and said "wow, that was stylish." I mean never. He looks to me just like a machine, he doesn't have anything that sets himapart. Just personal opinion, but I don't like him.
what fired me up was that tim russell did a super sick sw rodeo 7 truck driver landed super far down and was beaten by sammy carlsons sw 10, which everyone was doing.. i counted nearly 40 sw 10s throughout that bigair
What would you guys will be saying if Charles Gagnier will have done a switch 1440 , we will have heard of it for years. and yeah that sw 1440 was so smooth
seriously i dont know how charles even qualified, there were like 10 other people that were doing better stuff than him, i think he did two switch 10's but both werent very big at all and i was very suprised that he qualified, but once he qualified he was doing better, but he kept doing the same trick over and over. and i think tj's 14 was more stylie than charles 10.
it was not a hucked switch 1440, it was really really smooth and really really sick. i also agree that a huge switch 3, cork 5, or switch cork 7 would have also been sick, but that was as unhucked of a 1440 as someone could have pulled in a competition.
