Is it possible to make a rail out of ice? it would be cheaper than buying a rail, and it would be like making a big ass popsicle outside. I think it would work.
i am not sure how to build it, but my idea would be to take a 20' metal pipe and place a styrofome cylinder inside of it. then place a cloth or something that water won't stick to inside of the styrofoam.then block off both sides of the pipe and start filling the inner most cloth with water. then freeze the whole mofo. Naturally the water will expand inside the pipe, scrunching the stryrofoam, either way just pull out the styrofoam and you have a large ice rail. Then i would build a (3ft tall) x (20' long) x (same diameter as the tube wide) scafold to place the ice rail on top of. at the top of the scafold i would make a half pipe shaped notch to put the rail into. then i would jib the shit.
im not sure how well an ice rail would work, but you could make a frame out of wood, and pour water into it, then leave it outside. freezing it would cause the ice to rise up above the frame.
this could be the single dumbest thing ive EVER heard on NS. you gotta be kidding me right? there are soooo many reasons why that would not work its impossible to list um all.
if you're gonna take a 20 foot metal pipe to make this, just use that pipe for a rail. or go to home depot, and spend 20 dollars to make a badass PVC rail.
that is exactly how they are built
the ice rail is only moulded around a steel pipe that u are on the ice is like 2 inches below the steel. or built with ice blocks 300lbs each then they are frozen together
but they have that steel drilled into the ice
