Soul of Skiing?.........Taking it right out of Axis.... For all the people in NS who trash others

I don't have alot of posts and one of the first one's i ever had up some guy said that no one would take me seriously because I never had alot of posts. RIGHT. latest issue of axis goes over the issue of has skiing lost it soul. One skier had a very good quote relating to NS. He said the reason skiing is losing soul is because of people who arn't skiing or doing somtihng good for skiing but putting other people down in the chatrooms. It is so amazingly true. My latest other thread i was put down cuz i was talking about how the scratch ski had a bald chick. Of course someone said something about how big of a loser i am. I am just saying do we really need to fight and bitch all the time in the NS forums? I am sure this thread will probably only make things worse. But just to let u guys all know. LETS NOT LET SKIING LOSE IT'S SOUL. Whoever really feels somthing for skiing will realize there mistakes and let it all change.
Very important Issue

I tend to agree with your entire statement. The thing that baffles me is that we have a HUGE community of skiers here (in relation to the overall market) and we, as members, haven't done anything together as a community to change the industry that we bitch about so much. It's Strength in numbers here people. If enough of us want something to change, I believe that we have enough power (aka enough market share in the relatively small niche that is twin tip skiing) to at least affect the situation in someway. I'm not saying that anything in particular needs or should be done at the present time, but we as consumers have choices, and if enough of us make the same choice, the market itself will change and all of a sudden the things we bitch about disappear.
Now that may sound a little utopian in nature but I guess my point is that we have a great resource here within the community and maybe it should be used once in a while.
But as always, thats my opinion.
peace

Wicked response.
Ur right we may have some power in this community. I have never thought about that. Who thinks we should ride up as one and do somthing with our power. Any suggestions on wat we should try to change or accomplish?

I agree sort of.. i just dont think there should be pointless posts about chicks on skis.. however posts like this are important. as far as skiing losing its soul i dont think so. i mean everyone makes fun of eachother on here but its all in good fun.. When it comes down to it we are all in it for skiing.. why Beacuse its fun. and if its fun youll never lose the soul.
How Come the call it taking a dump when your actually leaving a dump?

ski for fun, you won't convey its soul through some words in a message board

I ski just to put a smile on my face, there is no need for sponsorship and all the hype about any kid that can throw a D-spin or somthing. The commersialism and ski fasion I think is not helping this sport. I mean there is only about 5,000 people at my mountain with A-frames. It's getting out of hand.

i really dont think that the NS message board has any fuckin affect on skiings so called 'soul'. if anything skiers themselves should be to blame. I think the reason that more people dont ski is because every motherfucker out there who owns twintips thinks they are the shit and they are too good for every other skier. Try to start a conversation or at just say whats up to another skier you have never seen before and they usually just fuckin scorn and stick up there god damn noses.

I agree, this board does not have much of an affect on skiings soul. You may think this board is big, granted it is for its audience, but that doesn't count all the people who ski big mtn and never glance at the park or all the 70 year old's tearing around, or just the kids who ski and have never heard of Freeze or Tanner Hall. In the end, skiing's soul is not up to the large mass we call 'skiers,' it is up to yourself. If you keep soul for yourself, then the soul of skiing has been saved

nice man, nicely put. skiings soul is in the skier, not all the bullshit sent out by the media.

I fully agree that this message board isn't big in comparison to the industry as a whole, but in the twin-tip only market, 30,000 Unique vistors per month has to be at least a little chunk of the market. My post wasn't necessarily regarding the soul of skiing issue, it was about the amount of non-productive material on here. Anyways, I do agree that skiing is about having fun and a lot of people on and off this site take it far too seriously.
