what the hell is up with some skiers copying snowboarders and saying cab and pretzel out... first off cab means a switch frontside spin that only snowboarders or skateboarders can do and and pretzel out is something snowboarders made up... why do skiers always copy snowboarders?
it shouldnt make that big of a difference. we essentially hit the same jumps and same rails so why not standerdize the sport with things like pretzel that make sense.
But you have to admit, the smallest pretztel/danish spin you can do offa rail is a 270, any lesss and you would just be getting off regular or switch, so its an easy way to talk to snowboarders and other skiers if you say pretzel or danish, letting your friends know which way you spun off the rail... I mean if I could say I spun an opposite 270 off but when I say pretzel all my friends understand.
how come when ever somebody posts something in the forum everybody has to rag on them. Not one of you has a legitamate reason behind your answers. I think coles right by the way pretzel is for snowboarding i don't mind cab tho
actually nomen, its because they are all sports vuilt off each other. All including on board and a similar stance, making these names possible because you have a leading foot. In skiing you do not.
Well, a pretzel is a pretzel, doesn't matter what your doing it on. So does this thread suggest that the terms Rodeo, Misty, cork, fakie, Switch, Mute, Japan, Tail nose etc. should all be null and void too? Plain and simple, if it weren't for snowboarding skiing would still be gay!
As for the term cab, it is derived from a switch frontside rotation, frontside called that because the first part of you body to clear the plain of the jump in the rotation is your chest "Front" thus meaning that all switch spins on skis are frontside or "Cab". Just like all forward spins are technically Backside (Back being the first part of your body that clears the plain of the jump when initiating the spin ex: "backside 270 off a rail")either way cab sounds better than fakie and people get tired of saying switch.
We could all be like mosely and just name things after food products but that would be kind of silly now wouldn't it!
umm dinner roll umm but jea word oh and one more thing ur a funny comentator " hey guy in tight pants your almost red neck enough to be on Atomic" that was funny
he makes an excellent point. now, what of the topic of pretzel switchups? say...switch on, to bs switchup? is that reffered to as a pretzel as well? or reverse? cause technically, a regular on- fs switchup is a pretzel, but its way to common. switch-bs is a friggen hard trick, so should it be named differently?
skiers cant do pretzels anyway any skier that says that is gay plain and simple its just 270....and dont go uh uhhhh hes a snowboard hater because i snowboard as much as i ski adn ride iwth a snowboard crew so dont asy pretzel or romain will take a dump on you
dude i usually ride with boarders and when they see skiers they will say that was a sick cab 3 or that dude just pretzeled outta that down rail(refering to skiers) it doesnt matter if its biting a lil bit we are all riding for fun so get over it
ERRONEOUS! maybe on switch on (which no offense, but thats all you're doing according to profile), but thats not really a pretzel, but definitely not after a real spin on.
it would be a terrible idea to rename all of our tricks just because we dont want to be like snowboarding. park skiing came from snowboarding, they invented it. we cant just rename it and call it our own.
