we should take a tally everytime someone says they are gonna lower taxes. The problem is 1. If you look at previous governments who promised tax cuts it rarely came..and 2. If a tax cut does come it usually results in another type of tax increase because they have to find that money somewhere else. A clean tax cut with no reprocussions rarely happens.
Your right, but I must add that tax cut is issued when the economy is in huge surplus or huge growth.
We don't have either. Also, if Harper cuts the GST, he will raise income tax. That income tax is pension, and all that other crap deducted on your pay check.
I not quite sure but I believe that the Tories exploded the GST.
the problem that i have with the NDP is this:
they have alot of great ideas...fix canadian health care, Put Families First as Jack likes to say. but it all costs money. money that we don't have. no matter how you look at it, there is no where to get the money. so what are they going to do? put Canada in more debt? well then it is just going to take another party to get us out of that debt. and the last thing this country needs is more debt. not that other parties are going to really do anything about it. but atleased they say they are going to try.
ndp are an excellent balance though. if conservatives do win, i hope it's with with ndp and liberals having a majority vote.
Conservatives say that a party that has been in power for so long is bound to get lazy and over confident. and at that point it's time for a change. but, what has the gov't been in Alberta for the last.. 30 years?
Im not worried about the Conservatives being in power im only worried about a Conservative majority vote. Maybe the Tories are the change that Canada needs but if not I would sleep easier knowing that the opposition could topple the Conservatives if things got out of hand. If I was 18 this vote would be very difficult to cast.
Ah my first time voting it was beautiful!
Im excited to see the results. Chances are it will be a conservative minority, I hope not but oh well. I saw the pros and cons to all parties, but right now Im liking the NDP, even though chances are they wont win. I think they will be a party to watch for in the future as much of the young voters like them.
him and his wife known as olivia chow lived in subsidized housing in toronto while making a combined income of 120,000. so while they were taking a room for people that needed it they were just building their wealth by exploiting the housing coops that the government had to offer.
yea i like ndp but layton is the biggest 2 face son of a bitch going to a privatized health care clinic it seems like harper is the only leader that uses the public health care system. i think anyone but the liberals they stand for nothing
i really dislike harper, the man scares me, but i will be moving to australia soon, so i hope i get out before america goes kicking down more doors and starting shit
oh great, looks like liberal propoganda has got to more people. God thats fucking stupid. Oh yeah, he is also going to declare martial law using the military right? Fucking liberals
i sure hope the conservatives win, stupid fucking liberals, they have screwed so many peps over in the 13 or so years of power, its about time they were kicked out
i have to say im totally lookin at the green party this time even though people think there just a joke i did some research and found that theyve actually got a solid platform and they would be alot better then the greasy basterds running for PM other than that though i think its still liberal time
vote green? wtf sure they sound all great but do you know anything about how much that would effect our economy? maybe that their would be less funding for our athletes which may one day include our sport. How we would lose so many trading partners and put canada in a Recession come on now, educate yourself, the green party isn't exactly the biggest supporter of new ski areas like Jumbo glaciers, maybe read into all the policys the green party has
To those talking about lowering taxes. Lowered taxes usually result in only corporate tax cuts, and even when they do it the lower classes, they have a negative effect. Taxes help pay for roads, schools, public healthcare, social workers, welfare, EI, better tax returns for low income families, low income housing, parks, highways, investing in cleaner transit projects, rape relief clincs, safe injection sites, and more.
Actually they would do it by raising taxes... not a very popular approach, mind you. Objectively, leftist ideas always SOUND good, but good luck trying to get the money for when you don't sustain the best economy possible. On the other hand, the right enables a strong economy that will give enormous revenues to the government, that can then carry out those wonderful ideals.
Plus, NDP is ultra-power to the federal, and less independace to the provinces, which sucks major cojones.
here's a ranking of the parties:
1. green.
2.NDP
3.Liberal (Would have put bloc here - but no bloc in ontario)
4.Conservative
(excluded the communists, christian heritage etc)
the results rendered the reverse. so once again i hate the government and the rest of the morons across the country for causing that result. fuckin representative democracy does not work.
fuck harper, murder the government, burn that bitch to the ground.
