Replying to Told you so
about a year or so ago I posted what the average windows computer would be sporting when the next version of Windows (called windows Longhorn back then, now called Windows Vista)
in my post I said that the average computer would have four 64 bit processors, half a terrabyte to 2 terrabyte hard drive, and have 1 gig to 4 of ram.
alot of people who considered themselves computer wizzes called bullshit on all of that and said that only high end computers would have that stuff.
well lets look at what technology we have today:
-both AMD and intel are going to dual core processors (so people will have a minimum of 2 processors) and intel still has Hyper threading (which AMD should be getting something similar very soon) so if we count thats 2 processors each behaving as 2 processors = 4 processors
and windows Vista isnt even out yet
-1 gig of ram is about 70 bucks and no one in their right mind will have a computer with less than 512mb right now.
and windows Vista isnt even out yet
-Hard drives are becoming bigger and bigger 500 gig hard drives are out and cost about 300 bucks. people now store their music, videos, and photos on their computer. more and more storage space is going to be needed. the $300 price tag on half a terrabyte hard drives will drop very fast very soon.
and windows Vista isnt even out yet.
The fact is right now a dual core 64 bit computer with 512 mb of ram and an 80 gig hard drive costs 300 bucks.
so in a year or so when Windows Vista comes out. computers will be so much more powerful
