What's the stiffer ski between Made'n'ak 179 and the 4frnt VCT 182?
Which one do you think is the best for steep powder days??
Thanks

how much do you weigh?
If you are a light weight, then go with the Made'n.

I'm 5.10 height , 150 lbs.
I need them for Alaskan heliskiing. I got the Seth Vicious 179, and maybe need something different.
Is it very stiff the VCT compared to MADEN?

I was shocked at how stiff the VCT was, but the Made'n would be a wonderful addition to anyone's quiver.
I think that you can save some cheese if you go with the Made'n.

how much money do you have?I'm thinking legend pro would be perfect if you dont need a twin..otherwise ANT is a better choice than both. Coming from someone whos skied both the ANT and the VCT

The Made'n AK is a tried and true powder stick. Like Depierrear5 said the Legends are considered epic, but they are also pretty pricy.

If i had some confusion at the beginnig of this thread now confusion is complete.
I think that ANT is too big for me and too stiff as well. JP vs Julian is maybe a little too soft and is needed a mpore stenghts on legs.
On the other side maybe the Dynastar Pro would be a nice choiche...but i got some good deal with VCT and Made'n...so looking through them...

capitals run about $750 US....and gots and legend pros are both fairly expensive. The difference isn't that much.
Igneous....well yeah....they are expensive, but think of them as an investment. Worth it, IMO. My FFF will be my powder skis for a long time.

VCT's are way fucking stiffer than the maid'ens, which is more of a backcountry, versatile freestyle ski whereas the VCT is designed for skiing big lines and touring.

I am interested to hear about the VCT's. I haven't really heard much about them, and they seem like a really interesting ski. Picked them up in Jibij when they first came out and I thought they were pretty cool.

-Madens would be fine for you, although i dont see why you dont just ski with the vicious's...
-Jp/Juliens are gonna be to soft for heli skiing up here. but their a perfect length.
-ANT's are gonna be to big and to stiff for you. if you were 6 foot then theyd be perfect.
-VCT's are a strong choice, but again, i dont see why you dont just go with your current skis.
-Gots would be perfect for you. good ski. ask iggyskier about em, although he did break them...
-check out some non twin skis, i doubt youll be skiing switch down any lines here in alaska with a heli. check out capital and iggy's.

your what - 5'10" 150 correct?
and you'll be using them in AK?
190.
If you plan on skiing them as more of an everyday ski - 183.
They ski short because the twin is fucking huge on the tail. The 183 is extremely easy to manage in tight spots. They are fairly stable, though.
I ski the 183 as a touring ski. If I was skiing inbounds or out of a heli, and were skiing the gots, I would go with the 190.
So, I guess it depends on how you plan to use the ski. If you plan to use it inbounds, the 183 will be more manageable but still sick. You only weight 150 so float really shouldn't be a problem.
If you just want a ski for going really fast in tons of pow, the 190 would be sick.
If you want you can mess with the mounting point, too. You could mount the 190 more foward to make it easier in tight spots.
Also - make sure to get this years gots, not next years. They increased the skis sidecut next year and that is just stupid.
hope that helped.

O - if you already have the 179 SV...get the 190. the 183 got and 179 SV are only like a 1-2cm different in size. Plus - if you get the 183 gots you'll never ski the SV =)

Thanks a lot....i was thinking exactely the same.
I got a 179 that's perfect for riding in tight places (through trees) so better if a get a bigger ski just for Big mountain.
Maybe i could also do an extreme choice going with Line prophet 130. But i think it's not so easy to manage (also in steep) 130 underfoot is HUGE!!!

If you are going to be skiing fast big turns then get 190 in whatever you choose and get a ski >21M radius. 180 is too small for that type of riding. Legend Pro 186cm would be good but remember it isn't the best powder ski, it is stiff, meant for stability at really high speed in variable snow. It will float but not as good as a Made'N or Gotama. If you are going to ski powder at reasonble speed, Gotama/Made'N, if you are going to AK to flash lines at 60mph and jump off stuff in the spring then 190cm VCT/186 Legend Pro/Head Supermojo/Sally Gun Lab etc. 4FRNT has an Eric Hjorliefson pro model (EJH I think) coming out, 193cm 105 or something underfoot and stiff.
have fun
