this rumor has been going around. at first I was unsure but its becoming more and more obvious that line is going bankrupt
1- they fire all their riders except for 2
2- they sent their skis to china (probably a last attempt to save bucks)
and now
3- on their website this is in their news section:
We need someone that can answer emails for 8 hours per week for school credit.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8 Hrs per week in our office
- know alot about Line
- know a lot about skiing
DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING TO WORK FOR FREE AND LIVE BURLINGTON

they put that on there site because they are looking for interns. every company wants people to work for free thats what an intern does. the person will answer emails and get a pair of free skis or something

first of all they don't say whether or not you get anything. Secondly the skis arn't exactly free if you worked for them for 120 hours unpaid

I don't think line is gonna go out of buisness. They're sales are probably down because lots of little kids on this site hate them for no real reason

They arent going anywhere, just because you take these far streached "clues" and claim that they are dieing doesnt mean you can over look the fact that they have sold tons of skis for such a small companie. Maby they are just trying to save money to make more of a profet. No, that would be rediculus.

didnt line sell out of all of their 2006 line as well as last years 2005 line of skis?
even though they werent for sale until like a month into the season?
i personally think you all have it completely backwards, and line is in great shape. not to mention i dont even think they would consider moving to china if they were in bad shape, considering it costs a ton of money to move an entire factory.....

holy sherlocke,
good ressearch you fucking tool.
1. Line did not FIRE their riders.
2. How could switching to an entirely new operation in a different country be cheap. If they were dying and looking to save a quick buck, they would not do such a large undertaking like that. It's a long term plan. They can produce them cheaper, so you can pay less.
3. Every year that I can remember the Line site being up they have had an ad for an intern, just like everyoen else does.
dont think your a genius anytime soon, son. and get a fucking life

newschool skiing will be better off without line. yes, they have been a somewhat innovative company and are one of the first core companies, but common after all these years they still can't get their product right. the company seems to have extremely shitty managment. i'd rather money goes go armada, liberty, ninthward, 4frnt, ect..

they want somone to work for free for them, do they get benifits like housing? or do they pretty much have to pay to move to burlington then work for free... thats pretty beat
good signs that company is going under

considering that interns are always responsible for getting themselves there... and it's ONLY 8 hours a week... and ya... you're point is compeltely wrong.

uhh.... your points are entirely invalid.... this isn't "evidence", it's unreasonable assumption...

The post on their website is for the notice of an internship position. Pretty much, they respond to all the info@lineskis.com questions from consumers.
i should know, i did it last year. anyone whose in the burlington area should definitely consider it. i got 3 credits a semester, did easy work and freed up some time for more skiing during the weekday.
pretty much, i walked away from a good couple of semesters with college credit, business experience, all the line stickers i'd ever need (haha) and some good contacts if i ever want to pursue a career in the ski industry.
line's not dying, far from it.

This thread and others like it are why Newschoolers.com is the worst thing in skiing today
Seriously, it's fucking epitomic. This is exactly what is wrong with the sport. One of the big things, anyway. Why hasn't this moron's thread been deleted? Why is idiotic rumour mill bullshit allowed to go on? Dumb kids with nothing better to do with their time making up trash and talking about a whole load of crap on the internet on subjects they know nothing about. Do you work for Line? No. Then how about not commenting on how the company's doing, you dumb shit. You don't have the figures, you don't have the contacts, you have nothing but a couple of vague points (which have NOTHING to do with bankruptcy and EVERYTHING to do with company strategy) from which you've come to conclusions. Know what that makes you? Useless. Completely useless. Worse than useless, because you're hurting skiing by promoting this kind of crap.
So stop hurting skiing. If you don't know shit, that's nothing to be ashamed of, almost no one does on here no matter how highly they might think of themselves. But don't try to pretend you do. Too many people base their livelihoods on this crap for you to come in and hurt that because you're trying to look cool and knowledgeable about skiing. Let's all just be comfortable in our ignorance about an industry that's pretty fucking gay anyway, and go have fun skiing. How about that?
