i picked up a pair this year of last years boards and i love them. I am used to very stiff skis and they didn't disapoint me all that much. Havent hit the powder yet so i cant comment on that.
Wondering if anyone has skied both the 4frnt MSP 187 and the 04/05 seth pistol 189. How do they compare? I love the pistols but find them a bit too hooky, too much sidecut. The msp sidecut, 127-96-113, or something like that might be perfect.
I know it is not a big difference in sidecut from the pistols, but my main dislike with the pistols is that the tail tends to be a bit hooky. Taking 4 mm off the tail will make it hook less. That is what K2 did with the vicious, they kept the tail the same, but added width underfoot and in the tip, which gives the ski a less hooky feel. Two skis with the same tip and wais measurements but 4 mm difference in the tail will definitely feel somewhat different. Most of the people I know who have any kind of objection to the pistols have that objection. They are great skis, I just wish they had a little less tail.
what kind of question is that man? any ski can do rails. and it doesnt matter what size the rail is. your skis wont suddenly give out on you if you attempt a large rail. "oh shit, a huge rail! FUCK THAT *double eject*"
i've got last year's msp in a 170 and i skied them all last season. awesome for powder, awesome for big park jumps, awesome for crud, pretty shitty for groomers (but i'm used to a race ski on groomers so, you know, my expectations were probably a little high). they're decently stiff, just perfect for that type of ski in my opinion. buy them and launch it!
ok....I have been riding last years MSP's 187. I was a littled worried at first cause I am a pretty small guy 5'9", but they are fine. I have been riding powder and spinning with them. They are a super sick ski. If you are a strong skier you will have no problem with them. IF you aren't as strong or big, go with the 180's. either way I think you will like them. good luck!
I've railed with them. The edges only hava a small detune on one of the edges cuz of a bail, other than that, the edges can well hold up a good season or two on rails..
