Sorry about the misleading title, but my 03' scratches have about had it and I'm now in the hunt for a new pair. Keeping it under 400, what do you suggest is a light ski yet durable enough to survive quite an east coast beating?
see thats my problem. i like butters alot, but i like super high speed and kinda like charging shit and whatnot. you know? and i can only afford one pair of skis.
Invaders are stable no matter what anyone else says. At high speeds they work fine, they can pull you through tight spots near death that I didnt think possible, even switch. It's just a bit loose in the tips, so if you land way backseat it tends to slide out (which can be quite fun riding in a manual doing turns) and the cosmetic delam gets on your nerves since most people get it. It's nothing to worry about, just EPoxy it or whatever. All around though, the most hated ski this season might be one of the best.
i mean i dont just occasionally go out of the park. its like 50/50 in park and then everywear else. and a ski thats designed to flex just wont work as well as a stiff ski when you are doing 45+ through chopped ip snow and wind buff. im not saying its impossible, just that i definatley have more conttrol with a stiff ski.
also, iskiswitch, i live in colorado and i think you are from the east. so im probably gonna be on some bigger stuff than you. i dont mean that as an insult i was just saying so you knew.
head mojos. they are NOT heavy. much ligheter than publics. i went frompublics, to heads ( i snapped my publics in half.)
heads skis better. are lighter, and are more durable(so far)
First things first, never buy this years model. Shops usually have leftovers from last season for half the price. I got my Karma's for 300 canadian, when they retail for 900-950.
If you go this route, you have a larger spectrum to choose from. I'd reccomend:
Volkl Karma
Head Mad Trix
K2 Public Enemy
Atomic Stomp or Tweak (whichever the one that is 85mm underfoot)
true that. if you can find last year's seth pistols, that would for sure be your best bet, well those or the volkl karmas.
all of this line invader talk is rubbish. 3 kids i ski with purchased invaders this year, and each one of them have delaminated their skis (not just a cosmetic delam either).
i've also heard good things about the head mojo line.
i have a friend who delamed em like 18 inches on the tail, within a week, twice. sent em back, got a new pair, did it again. the 3rd seems to be holding up, but i guess it could just be a bad batch.
