this is really random, but does anyone have any idea what length of ski or turn radius is ideal for skiercross. im competeing in the big mountain comp at the us freeskiing champs in snowbird, and they had room in skiercross so i entered.
Use a GS race ski thats is what the pros use. Ski Companies build skier cross skis but the pros don't use them. They us GS race boards with the graphic of the skier cross ski pasted on top. They should be longer. Mine are 191 Salomon lab 2v's with a Crossmax 12 top sheet and 920 bindings.
yah i just use my 1080 labs im not hard core with the race skis and it feels good to beat hard core racers with there hard core racer skis. pluss when you rock twins you get some nice tail spray and its deinatly a bitch to be behind.
Dude when I was still racing skiercross I was on two pairs. Onw pair of 178cm 2v labs for short turny courses and a pair of lab 2v 191cm's for longer courses with lots of big gaps and double and triple ups. It depends I'm 178lbs and 5'11 and those 191's are super stiff but fast. Just train lots and get fast on your skis before you go and jump into skiercross.
Just to fill you in skis aren't always the answer waxing is and i have been waxing for almost a year and my skis are still not a top speed so go buy some swix and an iron and get busy you have alot of work ahead of you if you want to do well
most diffently, i won last years series at my mountain and im going for it again... its teh best rush in the world, I know my skis like no other, and although i want to get new ones, probably the atomic SX 11, i kick ass with my K2 Axis X, and they rnt racing skis. Basically, get them waxed, tuck a run down a steep slope with some rollers and pop off for air, and double safety grab the shit, then just do the race.... bad ass shit skiercross, won skis last year, going for the same shit again.
good luck winning any big comps considering everyone thats winning these days are ex world cup ski racers with extremly fast skis and an amazing amount of talent and skill
anything 170+, anything below that will be tooooo short. but the turn radius shouldnt be to big because your gonna have to make quick turns and turn around other racers. thats my 2 cents.
You got it to win you should be 160-220 lbs and ski fast balls to the wall and no hloding back. The races is won in the first two turns and from there it jsut depends on how tight you line is and how fast you can glide and how tight your tuck is. Do this and you might have a chance.
I would rather watch skier x 100 times than ever watch fucking winter fmx. Fmx is so fucking boring, and why is it in both xgames? 0 Xgames is enough for that. Skiercross is sweet
