Well I was at the mountain yesterday and felt something kind of funny about my binding. After closer inspection I find that two screws on the heel have been ripped out. Not to big of a deal because the screw pulled straight out. So the guys at the mountain just threw in some heli-coils and I went back up. TWO fucking runs later I do a lincoln and land way backseat. I heard the ski snap right under the heel. Upon closer inspection I find that the OTHER ski, not even the one that broke earlier was completely snapped in half right through the two screw holes behind the heel. So all in all it was the worst ski day I've ever had. Plus they were brand new this year ARV's so now I have to resort to the rock skis for a couples months. This fucking sucks.
it happend twice on my 06 ar5s. I have rossi scratch 120 bindings. Happend on the front screws on the heelpiece. Rossi rep says it happens with those bindings and recommend the helipacks as well
you dont know what your talking about. and as for the dudes that fixed your skis i cant believe they let you go out on your skis right after putting helicoils in them. that just asking to rip the binding right back out
First off...
Helicoils are STRONGER than drilling alone. World Cup Racers helicoil every hole on brand new skis.
Secondly, there is no "cure time" on a helicoiled ski...its ready to rip as soon as the binding is back on.
And lastly, this years ARV's have a low profile core to shave weight. The downside, they are super soft and snap easily. You cant use a light weight BC ski in the park and expect it to hold up. Get some AR5's and call it a day.
It wasn't even the ski that they fixed. It was the other one. And the binding didn't just rip out... it ripped out and broke in half. Ill post some pics soon
