The 187 Chronic Wides, in the Park.

This is for all you cats out there using your 184++ skis in the park. I've run into a situation where I can either warranty my Invaders for Invaders, or upgrade to the Chronic Wides, only thing is if I get the Chron's then I will get the 187 size due to lack of supply. What are your experiences riding longer skis in the park, and I don't mean 180cm cause I did that last year. Just curious, any input to help me make my decision is appreciated.
Please none of, "Just get the chronics, don't be a pussy."

um, it depends on you, if you're bigger or are a strong skier you will like them better, the big difference with a longer ski is you're giving up the ease of spining for stability.

If you are above 6 foot you will be fine.

i was on a 186 pollard last season and a 185 bc this season, and if anything, the added length helps. more stable landings, holds a better edge carving into jumps. youll lose some jib ability, and butters are harder. pretty much low speed stuff becomes more difficult, but other than that, youll love em. it didnt take much time to get used to the length so i can jib just as well with em.

the main thing you're gonna notice between the invaders and chronic wides is the stiffness...i ride last years 186 pollard pros everywhere...powder, used to on rails, pipe, jumps...im 6'2" and weigh about 195lbs...they're a super solid ski, very hard to butter but insanely stable bombing steeps, riding pipe, and hittin huge tables...i have mine mounted probly 2cm in front of the "4 pack" cuz i used looks...
basically they're super good if you know how to ride stiff skis...they're relatively light skis too...i have a pair of trouble makers in 175cm and they almost feel heavier!!

you can be over six foot and still weigh nothing. then you're not fine.

weight isn't always a factor though...im two inches shorter than my friend but he weighs like 30lbs less than me yet can still ride the same skis as me
weight isn't always the main factor...its how strong your core and legs are that makes the biggest difference...don't get me wrong though, the heavier you are for a fatter/longer ski helps a lot

Then you're a pussy. If someone is over 6 ft tall and cant handle a 187 ski, he is henceforth a pussy.

true that shit spunky...fat stiff long skis are the shit for park riding...though hard to buttter (only disadvantage) but you can hold edge more effectively, can ride more stabely, and go faster on anything pretty much

So much more stability on landings with the Chronic Wides.

Are you getting your warrenty through Sports Den? I was down there today and they only had 5 pairs of Chronic Wides all 187cm...

Nah, I'm getting them through jibij, only 1 pair left and I'm hopefully taking them, I guess the main thing I was worried about doesn't even matter anymore cause the more I think about it the more fun I'll have out of the park with the chron wides over the invaders. Thanks fo the help doodz.

yeaman you'll LOVE the c-wides out of the park!! i hit a 15x30 or so step-up at sunshine on saturday and it was soooooo smooth and easy to hit on them...no shaking, no jitter5s down the inrun...and super stompage on the landing

unless your using line bindings..

yea i mounted mine in front of the 4-pack (closer to center) makes the swing weight more bearable and also impores tha carving capabilities of the ski

^ i mounted mine at suggested point (6mm back from center) and they kill it everywhere.

o i bet...i only mounted mine further forward cuz i thought i was gonna be using for mostly park...then i bought park skis...i think having them a lil bit farthger back (from where i have them) would help in the powder, but im super happy with how i set them up for riding everything

I have the reactors so I'm stuck at 5cm back from center, but it should still be good, if it's unbearable then I'll have to think about bringing out my rossi bindings but I highly doubt that will happen.

dooooooooooooooooooooood don't be dumb man!! if you weigh around 200lbs the line bindings are gonna blow on you after a while...plus they're an assload heavier than the rossi's...if you're going to get the c-wides i would SERIOUSLY reccomend paying the extra few dollars to get your rossis mounted...it'll be well worth it

I weigh 190 and I've been riding my reactors for like 35 days so far and no problems whatso ever, and if they do blow up then I have the extra bindings at home and can then pay to mount. As of now I'm completely happy with the reactors.

i felt the same way about reactors... i used to totally support them but then they freakin broke a few days ago after 10 days of use.
and i had them set up with a certified dealer and all, so keep that extra pair handy cus you might need it.
