ignorance is bliss I suppose. After a few good tours the resorts just don't compare anymore

I got my first real 'backcountry' line down this past week in tahoe, and let me say, fi I could ski that instead of park everyday, I would. but I'm stuck back east until march.

I think I get better at park when I ski it less often, whenever I go I feel like I accomplish something or try something new. You can't ski one disipline constantly or you just kinda stagnate, or at least I do. I like doing something a little different everyday, getting better at one displine often carries over to another.

I think if you skied BC everyday you wouldnt get much better at skiing, not only do you only get one or two lines in during the day, the snow is almost always ideal. I think charging crap in the resort all week and skiing BC lines on the weekend is the ticket.

what I was saying si that I liked it a lot more than skiing park. I ski park and groomers only, because that is what I have acess to. but, anytime I can ski trees and good snow, i do, and the one BC line I skied was the best thing ever, and it was like.. 4 days after any snow had fallen.

i have skiied the BC of penn. hahah, which is max. 2 feet of pow, some gnar booters, but sadly no cliffs...or a lift...or fucking anything for that matter, its a damn farm that has some open fields that happen to be on the side of a mountain....so anyway...

Um, whoever said that the conditions of backcountry is almost ideal obviously doesn't do it all that often. Those who have visions of ducking a rope and finding feet pow are very mislead. While one can find better snow often in the back country, it can often be wind blown crust that without the knowledge of how to ski sucks.

Well Utah is the only place I've ever skiied Bc and I refuse to retract my statement. I got prolly 50 days of BC last season

In tahoe, we got brought up hiking out of bounds into the BC. I remeber first doing this when i was like, 9, and the powder was as high as me. on another note, tommrow in tahoe, will be the best powder day experienced, ever

Of course it comes now, 3 days after I get back. I didn't see any new snow for the week I was there.

I have, at brighton its easy. You go up the crest lift ski down to wren hollow take a certain way, then theres a "you are now entering the backcountry" sighn. you hike a ways up (not far if your a panzy or really far if you want some fun intense skiing). Then ski/hike there for a while and go back for more and go up the lift!!!

I jumped a cornice that was out of bounds and then got some pow below it. I think skiing untracked in-bounds powder is just as good

your stupid man. real backcountry dosnt mean cliffs and powder and all that shit. it means hiking or skiing your ass out of the parking lot or lift to get your turns. your stupid if you think BC is only cliffs.
