Baker closed till wednsday due to TOO MUCH SNOW?

apparently duncan (owner) feels really really badabout the deaths and has closed the mountain until wednsday so that the predited rain on monday will take away some of the snow

Baker isnt closed till wednesday due to too much snow. The avalanche conditions are too bad. They were able to keep it open until Friday when the snow levels rose, and it started raining. Rain tends to help the snowpack long term, but short term it makes the slabs and layers that much more easily to slide. On Saturday they did avalanche control and it was snowing at 33 degrees (heavy snow). Sunday its supposed to start raining again. Monday is going to have freezing levels up to 6000 feet. They are waiting for freezing levels to drop again so that the snowpack wont be so bad.
