i saw a roxy ad in a magazine...dynastar is making roxy their own twin tip ski. i think that roxy is more snowboard oriented and should have made a snowboard first..unless they already have one that i dont know about?
old news... but my sister is like addicted to people magazine and all those celebrity tabloid things and she showed me a piece on "MOUTAIN GLAM" with all these celebrities hanging in aspen and shit. and they had like a bunch of stuff that you can buy if you want to be as cool as mischa barton and hillary duff, and they had some roxy skis in there. it was not very cool.
I thought they'd be made by Rossignol.. not Dynastar. Quicksilver owns Roxy, and Rossignol, and a buncha other stuff.... And yeah... they are stupid Lindsay skis (the general name for the ditzy teenage girls who skit 2 runs, then sit in the lodge and look pretty.).
^ ohhhh... i bet Quicksilver owns Dynastar too, or owns their factories or something. Quicksilver is pretty much the godfather of all extreme sport brands.
if they are the exact same ski as the trouble makers... than what purpose is roxy really serving in this sport? i am all in support of female skiers (considering, i am one) but i don't exactly look forward to the days in the future when there will be herds of lemmings with pink polka dotted skis talking about how they got the same louis vuitton purse that paris hilton was rocking in the last issue of people magazine.
you are wrong...3 of the roxy skis arent even twins, and the ones that are, have more of a tail than trouble makers do...basically it comes up more and its one continueous sidewall ski compared to a cap and vertical side wall that a trouble maker has
i understand he's a pro, but he would know that 3 of them arent twins...and the one that is...is alot different in structure, last time i looked its all sidewall, and the trouble maker is only sidewall under foot w/ a cap construction on the tip and tail
Oh my god. k, first of all...I don't care what other skis they are producing...I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about their park skis.
The 165's that are currently out are the same "leaf spring" constuction as the TM but softer in tip and tale because of their size and demographic they suit.
The actual 175's that are coming out next year, which Jess will be skiing on at US Open and xgames ARE TM's...don't beleive me if you don't want mr almighty knowing but I guess my information comes from the fact Jess is my girlfriend, from the roxy and quicksilver team managers and the rest of the Dynastar team...maybe you have a better source of information?
This is the company's breakout year...don't expect them to be pressed as TM's forever. Roxy may have had some weird advertisements come out...but beleive me the team manager in charge now knows very much what she is doing. Roxy is a good thing for you chicky poos.
Plus, trouble makers are basically the best skis around. So thats a good thing.
wow quiksilver owns pretty much everything now a days and the roxy twin tips are shit they all foam cored and the contruction is shit and the only reason girls would buy them is cause theyre "cute"
Don't feel too bad about that kid man, he makes stupid posts all the time. He thinks he's part of the industry for some reason, and that he knows more than everyone else.
i dont understand what all you people are hating for. dynastar/quiksilver is obviously making a huge investment and effort to grow women's roles in freeskiing, how could we not be thankful? i think creating a distinctly female-oriented brand is an awesome idea, the more support the better. i am so tired of people complaining about "snow bunnies." what makes any of you think you have a greater right to be on the hill than any girly-girl? what do you care if some chick decides to buy a ski because of the way it looks? maybe shell get out there, realize what a good product she has and feel inspired to improve. i think many of you are missing the point that there is no difference between subscribing to "gangster" culture or being "girlie": both groups are just conforming to stereotypes. so why dont we all stop worrying about the aesthetic ski choices of others and focus our energy on our own skills.
and could all the ladies here please please stop hating on other women. i cannot express how much i hate it when i hear "girls are such bitches" "i hate girls" blah blah. shut up! you all know that you are just trying to impress guys by trying to act more like them. youre not fooling anyone.
i dont think anyone said anything about hating girls, it's just the girls who are into freestyle skiing for the boys, the ones who wear tons of makeup to impress. and now that they are making these skiis that look 'cute' more of the girly girls are likely to get out there, i mean it is nice that itwill open up peoples eyes and start to recognize skiing as a female sport as well. Hopefully it will encourage more girls to get out there and try, but i do know a few girls who do their hair before they ski and get all dolled up when once the snow hits your face or rain it usually comes off anyways. but this one girl got a pair of skis and they were the phat luvs, she didnt even know what twin tips were and she just thought the skis looked cute.. she has no desire to progress in skiing, she doesnt ski park she just messes around with her friends and sits in the lodge.
i guess it's just disappointing to see girls not even skiing for the love of the sport but for picking up guys
Absolutely.
Skiing is way way more than looking decent with sick equipment. I wish people could enjoy skiing for what it is as much as some of the people on this site do...
i dont understand what the difference is between trying to look pretty on the hill to pick up guys and acting all faux-hardcore to pick up guys. i dont know any of you at all, so this isnt directed at anyone specifically, but in my experience there are too many girls that act super tough and rag on other girls that arent as "into" the sport as them. point remains, who cares what other girls are doing on the hill? do you care that chicks ride roxy snowboards? torah bright, by the way, rides for roxy and kills it.
haha you guys are such a joke. I hope this site doesn't represent the major populus of freeskiing and rather a major minority. Otherwise it's the sole reason stunting the growth of the industry and the sport.
I can't beleive you chicks are dissing on a female company that are solely dedicated to females in skiing. what other company has committed to do that? none. you're so clueless.
Especially considering that you've never skied on the skis but are retrieving your information from a picture and an advertisement. Essentially doing exactly what you say that you hate about the "ski bunnies".
one pair of the roxy ski's are the junior trouble makers, and a cute pair of skis will not make girls rip any harder because they just don't rip. They should not need a nice topsheet to get better at skiing. This ski company is doing nothing for the newschool part of the sport. Girls should just start doing tricks and showing guys they can compete rather than complaining they don't have a ' womens only competition'. then when they get there ' womens category' in a competition they don;t even hit the features( example-2005 WSI, whistler)
Ok, roxy making skis actually makes me kinda crazy.
For one, girls will only buy them because they are cute. Same reason they all bought the snowboards. Its dumb, they are just trying to make more money. No girls are going to buy them bc they are good for park. If you are core about skiing you will get a real brand like armada, rossi, line, k2, dynastar, etc.
Oh well, i will just stick with my rossis adn not become one of those girls that are into skiing "becasue its cute, and so are the outfits"
detective, i'm going by what the dynastar rep said that came to the store i work at...i'm not going by my own opinion on the skis, and i never tore down at either of them infact i had fun skiing on trouble makers
Honestly, why do some of you people care that inexperienced skiers will buy them? Or "ski bunnies" for that matter?? It is more people skiing, more people getting to the hill, and overall, more money for the sport of skiing.
It's the same as when you guys bitch about snowboarders wearing Siver, and gapers rocking twins. I is money for the sport. Be fucking happy about it.
yeah but you can't tell me you dont get mad at the guys who come into the park with like all new gear and new skis, that cant do anything but act like they are all that....cause i deffinately know alot of guys who do
I agree with what you said at first, but then your pretty much totally wrong at the end. I wasnt even going to respond to this dumb thread before I read that. it's almost like you're making fun of yourself there too. are you trying to impress guys when you're out on the hill? I dont know about you, but when I'm skiing, I dont really care about the other guys on the hill, and I'm not really trying to impress them either. and buying in to the whole 'gangster' scene? I donno, I buy the ski clothes I like, which this year happend to be siver and a pair of burton pants. and yea, I do like that gangster/80s revival fad thing that will probably just be hot for this year.
and uhh to end my post I dont think roxy is a bad thing anymore. girls who buy those skis might just get amped on the sport and be the next sarah burke. I would be happy with that.
the roxy twin tip is the scratch pro and the other roxy ski is made by dynastarr and the reason they made skis instead of a snow board is because quiksilver owns rossignol, dynastar, roxy ... the list continues.
