I know this sounds pathedic, but I suck at boxes. This is the first week my mountain has had boxes, and I can't do it. There is no transition jump, so I have to ski on to the box forward. After I am on the box, I have to jump 90, but then my skis slip out and I land on my side, slowly sliding down the box on my butt in agony. Since there is no transition, how do I keep from slipping out?
u dont really wanna ski on then turn cuz that develops a bad habit, u cant do that onto rails, jump, turn 90 and land on the box then look at the end and slide it out
all those things worked for me...you have to develop your own kind of little "system"...me..as im skiing into the rail..i keep my legs kind of spread out...approaching the rail/box i keep my eye on the end of it...then i just let myself ease off the jump and turn 90...use my peripheals(if thats how you spell it) to check that my skis arent catching kind of thing and keep my eyes on the end of the rail...try that and if not try your own "system"
the reason i dont turn 90 is because there is no jump. the box is flat, but it has a 45 slop reaching down to the snow. So should I pop and turn just as I come onto the little ramp? And also, since I am beginning how fast should I go? I am not really scared, because I have already experienced agonizing pain. I just need to know which will be easier, fast or slow?
jump right before it, and spread your feet. Make it look like tanner until you get it with the gorrilla steeze thing, because you are less likely to fall with a low center of gravity.
i know what you mean, you kinda have to slid across the snow like doing a natural wood rail but it feels real retarted
or if you can just pop off of the groud like you would just crusin down a run
If it is ride on from flat ground, go in with too much speed, turn like you would to stop just before, but don't use your edges. Make sure your body is weighted and legs are ready for the impact of the rail so you aren't bucked or thrown forward when you get on it.
Just try it a bunch of times, you'll get it for sure. Have confidence.
i tought my friend how to do them this weekend. keep you eyes on the end of the box, make sure to keep a little speed, put a little more weight on your front foot, and make sure u are full perpindicular to the box, dont be afraid to commit, its waht keeps your slide clean.
put ur pressure on your front leg(lean foward) u'll slide that shit with ease.. when u land on ur ass falling backwards its probablyly becasue ur skis are not flat on the box
really really overexagerate/force the gorilla steeze. but please onces you start nailing it try not do the gorilla forced shit it doesn't look that great
get low and lean forward. your gonna think that you are leaning too far forward but your really not your probably just flat. find ya gangsta guerilla steeze..
