If you put it in the washer and dryer it kills the waterproofing, but oh well.

you can/must wash your jackets. do not use a liquid detergent with phosphates or added perfumes and most definately DO NOT use fabric softner. a powder detergent, nikwax, or any detergent designed for waterproof clothing on a cold cycle works well. also, contrary to popular belief, you should tumble dry on low for about 30 minutes. the dryer restores the properties of the dwr finish making it waterproof once again.

siver shit isn't waterproof in the first place so you don't need to worry about it wearing off

if it says dry clean only then i would listen to that little tap and do just that, or expect to be soaking wet during the next storm, but hell siver stuff is shit for waterproof so it may not matter ;)

It just means you have to be careful with it. I put my siver pants in teh washer, but not the dryer. YOu just hang it on a hanger to dry, adn it will be alright and won't hurt the waterproofing at all

I'm bringing this back up cause I'm looking to clean some Siver Pants. Looks like no one on NS knows what dry cleaning is though from the responses in this thread. You know how you seldom wash a dress suit (dresses too?) and when you do, you need to take it to some shop place to get it cleaned? That's what dry cleaning is. Has anyone done it with their pants as instructed on the tag?
My siver jacket says machine wash cold so it's definitely not applied to all siver products and only to the pants because they're different in some way I guess.

PS - If a tag says "Dry Clean Only" follow the damn instructions and have it dry cleaned. if you don't know what that is, ask your mom.
