This may have been touched on before, but i'll try again.
What about having sticky posts in the different forum categories. Posts that are getting much attention or an idea or subject which keeps getting covered would be easily seen at the top of the page.
The idea is to eliminate multiple posts that all have the same subject.
For Example.
Media and Arts - Video Editing or Favourite Songs
Non-Ski - anything with bush
