Really i think that global worming is pretty much a huge load of BS. The other day i was reading a garfield book from 1989 where they were talking about it and its been about 17 yrs since then and there hasnt been a huge difference in anything

huge outa control storms, the most hurricanes in one season ever recorded, widespread droughts, flooding, grassfires, melting glaciers and icefields, and that's just in our area. No, there's no global warming going on.

I just got that from Wikipedia so I guess Global Warming is happening a little but .6°C isnt a heck of a lot so I vote that we just wait a few hundred years or so and see what happens. Not that I'm saying we shouldn't stop polluting, we should still try to keep the enviornment clean.

The hole in the ozone is the biggest it's ever been and growing, the polar ice cap is the smallest it's ever been and shrinking at a record rate. It's too late to stop global warming. The damage is done, all we can do is try and slow it down. They say in about a hundred years there may be no more snow anywhere. I hope they're wrong.

yea, i know we're having a really warm winter in MI too, but global warming isn't a 30 degree in one year thing, its like ten degrees over 100 years. if you look at tempetures historicly they rise and fall and its to soon to tell whether tis is gonna be an ongoing trend or if its going to get colder again

OK after about 30 minuites of research i pretty much stick to my origional statement, while the hole in the ozone layer is getting bigger the earths tempeture is rising at a rate of less then .1 degrees celcius per ten years. And most of the graphs that show huge temeture changes are from big cities that are just warmer because they are getting bigger as our population grows...and that pretty much covers it, and while its not something to forget about its not making a huge difference in our winters now, the differences now are just being caused by relitivly normal tempeture variations

I'm sick of these stupid Global Warming threads. I wrote up a huge reply like last year that I'm too lazy to find. But, it isn't doing anything! This is the normal cycle of the earth, the temperature is barely increasing (like 2°C over the last 100 years). Its nothing to worry about and it isn't affecting skiing.

global warming isnt noticable at all...its bull shit how everyone is saying how ts affecting...i garentee next winter it willl be hella cold...if u remeber 2 years ago in boston MA we had like no snow and this year we got a strom the dropeed about a foot of snow....

also, there was a show on discovery a while ago that said the global warming can actually cause really bad, cold, snowy winters, so if its going to affect skiing, it will not be that negative for us

I love the thought process of some people. Just because it's happening at a slow rate, and not affecting you right now doesn't mean it's not a problem. Even if it doesn't affect you at all during your entire life, don't you think we have an obligation to preserve the world? So maybe your great grand children don't have to deal with it? Everyone is always concerned about Now. People don't want to look into the future to make life better off down the road. How would you like it if the population fucked up the world 500 years ago, and you have to put up with it?

I read that its affecting global weather patterns more than its affecting actual temperature changes. And its really difficult to discern between "normal" climate cycles and human caused warming, since humans have been impacting the climate for such a short time. The new TIME has an article saying Europe might see a significant cooling trend. Brush up on your German.

not here, last year we got tons of snow and this year we've had a 39 inch storm on top of an 8 inch base and we're supposed to get another 5 inches today.

I know someone who is from way the hell up north. Like the only way to get to her town is by plane or boat. Ne way she says that it used to be that the boats could only get to her town for about 3-4 months because pack ice was really dangerous and super thick so if they needed anything big (like sofa) they had to wait 7 months till the boats could come again. Now the boats can make trips to her town for 6months of the year. which is a huge difference. also the rivers around her in the past would melt in may now they are melting in the end of march. Her whole band's way of life is changing because of the climate.

So yes I belive that global warming is true and will affect skiing greatly. Here in the east we usually have hgot a good (by easten standards) dumping of snow by now that would stay all year round. we have nothing. last week it was like +5 degreess celcius and normal it would be like -10 or so.

I have seen a big change in my lifetime.



Yea people talk about how it is a natural cycle. but we have been overloading the earth with extra carbon emmissions that never happened in the past. Which has to change the weather patterns. We are also cutting down forests at a huge rate which is minnimizing the number of carbon sinks that allow the earth to regulate itself by absorbing natural carbon emmssions let alone the extra stuff by us.


and yes it is true that global warming will have a cooling affect in the future. Because if all of the ice caps melt the fresh water/cold water would disrupt the ocean conveyer belt. Now the ocean conveyer belt is like a cycle that brings the warm ocean water north where it cools and then sinks flows down south where it heats up rises and flows north. this is the reason why england can be farther north then parts of canada and the USA and not get any snow. If this convyer belt is stoped by the extra water enterig it the top half of the earth would cool because there is no warm water coming north and realeasing heat. Eventually england would cool and have snow and we would potentially enter into a mini ice age.

The day after tommorrow is a good movie to show this example but it would never happen like that. It will take a couple of hundred of years for this all to come to an end. But if you think of how big our population would be at that time and how many billions of people would be affected you have to think about what we could do to stop this from happening.


The earth will always try to regulate itself. That is why we have the climate cycles. It gets too hot it cools it cools too much it heats up. We fuck with this by warming it up too much then it is used too and we all get scrwed along with our eventul decendants.

its actually speculated that global warming is evident because of a tenth of degree rise. this is since the mid 1800's when people actually measured the temperature and also those measurments werent that acurate.

also those measurements are averaged with poor third world countries where tempaerature measurements are prettty pathetic regarding accuracy

pretty much global warming is probably happening and we should try to control our greenhoue gas emissions but its not to the extent that it will make a difference in skiing weather for a few hundred years, take ten minuites do some research, look at the graphs that make it look all bad but then actually look at the numbers not just the shape of the line and you will see that the earth hasnt warmed much more then one degree celcius in the past 150 years or so.
