Im heading down to Killington for 5 days and would like to know if their are any places you can hike at night to ski some untamed stuff.
Any secrets/Tips about the mountains terrain would be greatly appreciated as well.
Thanks

theres a lot of backcountry in the east. just go to killington, then go east, youll reach a big ol pond, go accross that, youll find people who you wont understand, keep going til you get to these big mountains with 6000 vertical, then look there.
pshhh, no backcountry in the east.

Screw any of you who think the east doesn't have backcountry...sure it's not like the west coast, but we still have it if you know where to look.

this is a retarded discussion. It's apples to oranges. All the west coast kids will act high and mighty because they have the stereotypical BC. The east has EAST COAST BC.

Oh my, how could I forget? East coast BC isn't quite as sick as the Minnesota BC, in my opinion, but beggars can't be choosers.

What the west has in backcountry we make up for with people from Jersey. You all might think your shit out west is gnarly but try skiing down an ice covered trail while dodging men, woman, and children who don't know how to ski.

they werent even open last year but they are usually open for a few weeks early march. ive seen people hiking it when its not open too (last weekend some boarders did it but had to hike most of the way down)

sure. get off the gondola, go straight into the woods from there. (the trail turns sharp left) once in the woods go to your right. Might have to hike awhile. Oh, and dress warm. They probably wont find you for atleast 24 hours.

actually unless you're the biggest dumbass in the world, EVERYTHING that is on the backside of bear dumps out onto Northbrook Ski Trail. Nearly impossible to get lost

didnt 2 kids spend the night out there last year for being dumbasses and going off the backside?

well it dosnt exactly dump into fallsbrook (not northbrook dumbass) you baicaly just get stuck in the ravine below falls broke and you have a shity ass hike out. and skiing the backside of bear is not bc because its all in bounds. and i dont recomend skiing the shit off the back of killington from the glades unless you know where you are going because there you will spend the night in the woods when you dont know where you are. it happens to dumbasses every season and your lucky if they find you quick.

ive heard about this but never triwed it, but smuggs, which is north of killy has some if you go up sterling. u go off on the skiers left, which leads you right down to the notch road wich is not open in winter.ride the road down to the lift - no hiking
