I call that the 80's will come back and we'll all start doing old school tricks again. In a few years the videos will be filled with pros in tight snowsuits throwing triple daffies over 80 foot tables, then doing ski ballet down the landing. I could be wrong, though.
The 80's is actually being slightly showcased right now...look at some of the suits in last years films, lots of neon colours. Plus shifties in spin (originated from a twister).
i think maybe skiing will go towards the more punkish hardcore area. its the only style that skiing hasnt really embraced yet. but, i wouldnt expect to see hessians doing cork 7's too soon
people will lowride like crazy and have major gorilla steeze and the most favourite trick will be cork 7's with truck drivers but hucking it like you do when you spin a cork 3.
i did we are going to invent grabs called mandarins and almonds and grab both hands on one tail or something. and we start spinning with splaffies and artichokes.
ohhh snap, all the grabs we have now, we can grab the inner edge of the ski and the outer edge of the ski and call them diff. grabs. quick people, think of names, steezballin has some already
Already been done by yours truly. I've been throwing frontflips off my poles for a few years now, I'm working on progressing this extreme aspect of the sport into a new dimension.
Its all about the pole-snag genre of tricks, my snowboarder buddy opened my eyes to this concept. He saw skiing as not using its full potential, we dont use the poles for anything, so he suggested making special baskets that can hook to the tips and tails of skis so we can "snag" the ski with the pole, or do some sweet press action. I havent actually tried it yet, but I do grab one ski trucka style a lot, and that is pretty sweet. I also do a lot of stalled out spread eagles, they are the sick shit meng
I'm going to start calling my nose tweaks "the bender" like "the bender 7" it would be rad. clothing style wise, I dont care, as long as its waterproof.
I don't think skiing is going to go fully back that far to like the 80's. I'm thinking like the Oldschool/Newschool crossover. Like tricks like backflips and misty/rodeo spins will become popular again. Like the time period 1998-2001.
the 80's was fuckin wack, thank god i was still unaware of life when i went through the late 80's. I hate kids actin like the hot shit with there fag bags and tacky ass hot pink/green shit. live life, don't bring back the past, especially the worst decade. as technology gets more advanced, we shall too.
I dono man, the 80s had some pretty sweet colors. day glow green, pink and blue are still some of my favorite colors. I just wish they would bring back the neon green bases on skis that were ever so popular. Those were sick, if ski company does that and gives me a pair for free i will ski them.
I dont think I would like it to much seeing skiing going towards the 80's shit again. I like the style guys have now and it will get different but not in that way. more like snowboarding and skateboarding. I know none of you like that but thinkg about how sick snowboarding is. Same style as skiing now and tricks, but more, more creativity and uniqueness in every skier. Not everyone wearing oakly stuff and baggy clothes (I am one of the kids sagging his pants with baggy clothes with that style). But I do respect guys like Blake Nyman, I mean the guy is very liberal, sick style, and creativity. I mean I love just the atmosphere, look at DC mountain lab. What a good atmosphere. Well yeah theres my opinion. Daffys and spreads are for fun dont turn those into comp tricks.
I tryed doin a pole plant inverted thingy on a 1/4 pipe and it was the most pathetic thing ever. I've never seen someone do something like that. If anyone has a pic or video of a pole plant I would love to see it.
i think the what style really boils down to is throwing huge laid out backflips while firmly holding on to your testicles. Also truckdivers will be stylish forever.
repeating old styles is for fashion, not skiing, there'll be some new thing to trick on or some fancy new binding or whatever, but i don't think ski ballet is comin back.
did screaming semens leave? i just think noone wanted to loose thier nuts...still...i suppose that is an exit, im waiting for the cork 9 screaming semen to the one foot switch landing with the testicle grab. Now that is going to be ill in a few years.
dandoy and the other guy got it on the money. skiing will take off like crazy when you can completely tell who someone is by their style. this is already noticable with some but im speakin of all
The Happy Peter - straight air that begins like a safety, but you rapidly caress the shaft of each ski with each hand, up and down in the air.
The Spitting Llama - hucked 360, but you chuck a ski pole at 90, and the other one at about 270. (Inspired by SkiingLlama*)
The Champagne Corked (degree of spin) - you launch of a booter straight up into the air like a rocket, but you spin really fast with your poles pointed upwards, then spin the other way coming down. The sound "spewwwwwww" must be made for full steeze points.
Last but not least
The Disturbed Chinaman - Hit the kicker with medium to high speed. When in the air, lean backwards until upside down, do a spread eagle and swing your poles back and forth between your legs. The landing is tricky.
im telling you at copper for the YGO you will all see my new grab i havent came up with a name but the grab will consists of both hands true tail on one ski.
