Vegans, I need your help.

Hey guys. I've started doin the vegan thing but I need some good sites for recipes and such. I also was wondering, good substitute products for cheese, butter, and eggs? (i know there's a bunch, but what are you're favorites). Anythin else you feel you should throw in too is appreciated. Thanks! -Sam

i'm not vegan yet but i dont buy leather or anything with gelatine or animal rennet in it. i still eat free range eggs and "vegetarian" cheese, but nowhere as much as i used too. I eat alot of falafel and when im at uni i eat heaps of tofu and potatoes. becoming vegetarian has been the best decision of my life. i love it.

i've never really understood why you wouldnt eat anything in animal products, i dont see harm in drinking milk/cheese and all that, even if you didnt want to harm animals. but the thing is thats how the world was made to work, we're omnivores and all omnivorous animals eat some meat. basicly what i'm saying is that a bear would have no moral drawbacks to opening a big hole in your chest and chewin some intestines.

now i guess i could see you doing it from a health standpoint, meat and all that can be pretty fattening and high in cholesterol, i just never understood why people cared that much, we're dominant and the strong will survive. i guess it be more fair if people ate other people too, but that might get a little bizzare

i dont get why people would become vegans cause if we didnt have the cows in farms they would just get eaten by wolves or somthing this way we get milk and they get a safe place to live. its mutally benifical so therefore your actually helping to kill animals if your a vegan.

the thing I hate about vegans is the fact that my dorm goes waaaaaay out of their way to provide many different vegan and vegetarian options while only having one "normal" entree for every meal. I'm sick of having to guess whether or not the food i'm asking for is gonna be made of tofu instead of some delicious animal.

I've occasionally thought about going veggie. Because of the economic costs associated with meat consumption. not that me not eating meat would really make people stop producing more meat, but at least I'd be trying, and if nobody tries we'll never get anywhere. but I love meat too much. plus I have about a million allergies, so if I cut out meat I'd be reduced to eating prehistoric grains and soybeans, and would probably starve.

There is proof the vegan diet is way too drastic, Rational Vegetarians at least eat some eggs or milk products, and maybe some fish. Peanuts & tofu aint gonna do it for u, Have you seen how skinny vegans are and a lot of them have to give up that diet cause they get too weak & frail. So good luck to U. Thats all I'm sayin and couldnt care less. Have a Big Mac its good for ya

be sure to shop at a whole foods they have lil' tags that tell ya if its vegan or not (if not just ask someone who works there)almost everything is organic, be sure to try the soy crunch bread, wasabi and seaweed rice cakes, and the really good cream and strawberry poptarts yummm im gonna go get myself one

Yeah I a vegitarian I dont really have any good reason except for the fact that I have been one for a while and its too late to quite now. That and it is something that is different. As for a vegan diet I dont know but I do know that most of the vegitarian meat substitutes are also vegan and they make vegan subsitutes for like cheese and stuff. Also drink soy milk.

im not sure why youd be a vegan, its pretty unhealthy only because they really dont get the nutrients that you need. and eating meat and eggs and shit like that is animal population control (jk) but seriously its all in the food chain. but do what you think is best

most of my friends are vegan and majority of them quit because they said they were sick and too weak, even after taking protein and everything. i just suggest going vegitarian.

vegan is plenty healthy if you eat right, it's very healthy in terms of nutrients and proteins but if you don't eat right you'll lose a ton of weight, my friend went vegan and became sickly skinny so after a month of us calling him ethiopian he decided to look into more hearty vegan meals and he ended up looking more healthy

sooo my girlfriend is a vegan and I / we have some questions how do all of the vegetarians cope with the over consumption of soy in there kidneys? or how about getting iron in their system im not dogging on any vegetarians or vegans im just curious and why do most vegetarians look so frail? malnourishment?

If you're planning on going vegan I would say definitely go to a nutritionist

I have three friends that are vegetarians. Two of them go to nutritionists and they are never sick. The other one just became one because 'it seemed like the right thing' and her hair is brittle and greasy, her nails are brittle, and she's always sick

Props to you for going vegan, but be smart about it and go about it in the right way

The real enviro-friendly thing to do is to buy local foods. Including meat. Cut the "poor little animals" bullshit and eat as we were intended. This new age shit pisses me off.  Take the PETA sticker off of your subaru, shave off your white boy dreadlocks, and just stop.

are you saying breast feeding is not good?

listen, i respect your decision, but i think that going to straight to vegan is just fucking nuts... your body is not used to it, and it seems like you havent thought it over enough....

so if you dont want to eat meat and eggs, then dont, but i think that its a complete waste cutting milk out of your diet.

even if its hard to explain, can you try to explain your reasoning behind your choice?
