so the other day i tweaked my shoulder, i think it's a torn muscle, there is no bruising or swelling but i can't raise my arm above my head and it hurts if my torso and arm make 90 degrees, what do i do to make it better???
I did the same thing, tore a tiny tendon in my anterior deltoid, had to get surgury to get it fixed, it's still not 100%, if U don't have insurance or money to get it fixed and can live with it, fuk it. Rest, Ibuprofen, Compression, and Ice.
for like the 3rd time there is NO swelling. I don't think it's my rotator cuff cuz there is no pain if i move my arm like i am running. it hurts and shit if i stick my arm straight in front of me and try to raise my arm above my head.
I tore a small tendon in one of the muscles of my upper frontside arm muscle (anterior deltoid) had to get an MRI to find it and surgery to get it tacked back on. costly injury. I landed on it again earlier this season and it's still fucked up. it sux ass
Work on passive range of motion. Get your mom or dad or someone to lift your arm up and down, across your chest and away and through circumduction movements. Don't do anything that hurts. If it is just a muscle injury then these won't hurt because your muscles will be relaxed and not contracting. It will likey hurt at the extremes of the range of motion because at that point, the torn muscle will be streatched. If these movements hurt through out the range of motion, you may have a punched nerve or joint capsule or possibly a minor subluxation or disruption of the joint ligaments. You should probably see your family doctor and get their opinion if this is the case.
Anterior is the front of your body. And the deltiod is the large triagular muscle on top of your shoulder. If it hurts anteriorly, then it is not a rotator cuff injury. Rotator cuff mucles are located posteriorly and lie on and along the scapula.
Now that I've read this about the anterior deltoid, it is more likely that you subluxed your shoulder but that it went back into place. (I can't rule out a mucles tear but a muscle tear is less likely anteriorly) This would be an anterior dislocation, likely caused by external rotation of the humerus (large upper arm bone). Everything I said above applies. Seeing a doctor is probably not necessary given that it is only a 1st degree sprain. If the pain persists tho, you should get it checked out because a subluxation could very easily cause you to pinch a nerve and pinched nerves need to be delt with properly.
^that was the most help so far thanks. I think I'm gonna wait a lil while and see if it goes away because the pain has been diminishing slightly day by day. but i'll prolly start doing some of that stuff that you just said.
