Actually, Aperture is all about .RAW photos and probably specializes in photography-specific editing. Haven't looked, but I'm sure the required specs are a bitch
well with film there are aperture settings (how fast the shutter opens and closes) after the picture is taken you have to develop the film into a negative and from there make a print of it. when you re an experienced photographer or film developer you can make thousands of affects happen with those things. what aperture does is it allows you to change the quality of the RAW picture before you bring it in for editing.
it allows you to change stuff you would in photoshop without sizing down the high quality images and without waiting for incredibly long load times while each affect is rendered. if your not doing insanely High definition photography then aperture is not a tool you need.
