the 1080's were the first twins and there were so many people who started doing freesking at the same time that you can really say one person started it

so everyone might have a different opinion... but i think that the canadian air force crew were the ones that really got freeskiing going. They were made up of: jp auclair, jf cusson, philliou porrier(sp), julien reignier, mike douglas, vincent dorion, and a few others i'm forgeting. But yeah on the other side there was glen, kent, shane, and dudes like that... then came tanner, boyd, steele, jon, and the such

in essence, freeskiing was started by every single individual that has ever driven to a ski hill just to have fun. that's really all there is to it. from there, it just evolved. your question is like asking one to identify who started society...there's many many factors...

just to throw ya for a loop, the first factory twins were OLIN MARK IVs I think... they were a ballet ski but factory twin tip nonetheless
Otherwise Salomon had the 1080 out in 98 I think and the New Canadian airforce was linked to that so I credit them with much of today but that was all started with plake and the hot doggers of the 70s and 80s and then morrison and mckonkey, those guys all influenced what we do today, hell i've been told my late grandfather did front and backflips on old wooden skis back in the 40s

Shane McConky started and still rules freeskiing. Nobody was doing shit until he turned the sport upside down.

Jason Levinthal started freesking. The snowblade was the first twin. Just a short twin. All the ski company started making blades, then some guys name JP up in canada and some guy named eric in oregon started skiblading with longer skis.
