ok so after getting my ext dvd burner for christmas, im finially fed up with this damn laptop. anything ive plugged into this bitch (flash memory, digi cam, camcorder, burner) for like the past year or so won't work. any plug and play devices(that work fine on my desktop and are recognized easily)are not recognized at all on the laptop. even my built in dvdrom doesnt work cause it says the driver is corrupted or missing. this comp has only been connected to the internet twice(and that is to run windows update) so a virus is def the problem....>>>????help me please. its pissing me the fuck off.

backup your data (word docs, music, pics, porn, etc), format the drive, reinstall XP.

start up using F8 and choose "last known good configuration" and that should let the computer work properly. Then for your USB port.. you may have to update the driver for it. Depending on the device.. whether its usb or usb2.0 and if it needs drivers or not can also be the issue. Make sure you have the proper disks to install the correct drivers.. if you need to use the net.. search for a driver database.

sounds like you have multiple drivers running and maybe conflics under devices as well. Why don't you just save and reboot?
