To mp4 converting software for MAC

anyone know good software to convert mpg., mov. exetra to mp4? i need some so i can get more video on my ipod

i dunno about direct conversion to mp4 but handbrake can convert DVDs to avi, mp4 with mpeg4 or H.264 vid and AAC or MP3 audio. you could maybe burn a DVD first.

use either handbrake for direct from dvd to ipod, and podner to convert other stuff to work with a ipod

quicktime pro (File: Export to iPod) can do it and the new iMovie too.

Bump.  New version of Handbrake works great.  Many new POV cams use proprietary codecs.  I made the mistake of recording in the wrong format, breaking in my new Drift http://www.driftinnovation.com/products.html I rock a PC and none of my editing software could recognize the clips which were wrapped in AVI shell.  I have it dialed going forward, but if you record something and you run into software conflicts like I did, Handbrake will save your ass.
