to be honest I think this rain is a good thing...we've had an amazing early season (jay peak has 150+ inches already) but there was zero base, the ground wasnt even frozen, which has led to several core shots and open trails having to close because they get so badly skied off. So this thaw will inevitably condense the snowpack and provide a solid base for the rest of the year....so there
its retarted its supposed to be warm till well past new years, at least vt is stayin freezing and below, I feel bad for all more southern resorts like are gona lose everything
it isnt a real bad thing as long as it dosnt destroy all the base that is already built up, kinda wish we just had the high temps without the rain but oh well
Too bad you got rain, We were lucky in Quebec city we got a real nice dump of at least 2 feet (Snowed for 24 hrs straight)
We kinda needed some, now all our hills will be 95-100% opened.
not to burst your bubble, but the ground doesnt really ever freeze. The snow insulates it and keeps it from completely freezing. Something like your driveway (assuming it's dirt) or even just your lawn, that only gets a few feet of snow over the winter will freeze, but when you're talking huge amounts of snow being packed down on top of the ground like at a ski resort, it becomes pretty insulated.
I take it back.....rain is gay, i had the worst day of skiing ever today, and I was super amped cuz our parks are finally up but the landings were boilerplate....shit nuts
we were set up for an epic season at whiteface with a better early season park than ever seen before.
then it rained.
now the parks an ice field and the rest of the mountains worse. just because jay peak gets hammered doesn't mean the rest of the east coast deserves rain.
rain, i hate you, never show your ugly face in these parts again.
